Phung wins two gold medals in national event

HA NOI (VNS) – Women’s International Master Vo Thi Kim Phung won two gold medals at the National Top Athletes Chess Tournament, which ended in the northern province of Bac Giang over the weekend.

Bac Giang’s Phung beat strong rivals Hoang Thi Bao Tram of Ha Noi and Ngo Thi Kim Tuyen of Quang Ninh, to take the lead in both the standard chess and blitz chess categories.

In the men’s side, Grandmaster Dao Thien Hai of HCM City won the gold medal in the standard event. The silver and bronze medals went to Duong The Anh and To Nhat Minh respectively of the Military team.

Meanwhile, Lam Dong’s Cao Sang won the blitz event, while Hanoian Nguyen Van Huy and HCM City’s Hai were placed second and third respectively. – VNS
