VietNamNet Bridge – The aviation authorities of Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia have preliminarily agreed on the open of a direct route from Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi through the airspace of Laos and Cambodia.
At a conference held in Da Nang yesterday, the working group of the Ministry of Transport reached an agreement to open a direct route from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City with Laos and Cambodia. Officials of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) said the direct route will be launcyhed in June 2015 to replace the current route.
In the early stage, the three countries agreed to open the one-way route from HCM City to Hanoi, with the flight level of FL350 (35,000 feet). This is the optimum flight level appropriate to the aircraft speed to save the most fuel.
In addition, Vietnam has proposed Laos and Cambodia to reduce the transit fees through their airspace, but until now CAAV is still waiting for the answer from the two governments.
In late August, the Ministry of Transport asked the government’s permission to resume the research of a direct route between Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City through Laos and Cambodia in order to reduce the flight time and fuel.
According to the testing results by CAAV and Vietnam Airlines in the flight simulator, the direct route can help save five minutes, 86km and 190kg of oil.
