A state-owned car carrying Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Tu and two others got into a crash at around 7:20 am on a section of National Highway 5 that runs through My Hao Commune in Hung Yen, about 33km from Hanoi.

According to the official, the car’s driver lost control of the vehicle after he managed to avoid a coach ahead, which encroached on his lane.

The car then ran over the median strip into the other side of the road before being hit by another coach traveling in the opposite direction, killing the three people in the car, including Lt. Gen. Tu.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Tu was Deputy Director General of the General Department of Force Build-Up under the Ministry of Public Security.

An official report of this fatal road accident has yet to be submitted to the Ministry of Public Security, the official added.
