Fire breaks out at Indonesian consulate general in HCMC

Firefighters in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday night put out a large fire at the Indonesian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. No injuries were reported in the incident.


The blaze began at 9:00 pm at the consulate, which is located at 18 Phung Khac Khoan Street, Da Kao Ward, District 1.


Local residents said they heard a loud explosion and noticed a burning smell coming from the consulate.


Shortly afterwards, several canvases hanging outside the building burst into flames, they said.


Firefighters and police were called to the scene to extinguish the fire and maintain order and security in the area.



A total of eight fire engines and more than 50 firemen were sent to the scene.


Police blocked traffic on the street to give the firemen more space, and they also assisted locals in leaving the area for safety reasons.


After an hour of work, firefighters had put out the blaze.


Many structures inside the consulate were destroyed or damaged by the fire.


At 11 pm, locals who had left their residences returned home.


There is no report of casualties caused by the fire.


Police are investigating the cause of the fire, which was initially blamed on a short circuit.
