Researcher Vu Tuan San receives Bui Xuan Phai Grand Prize (Source: baotintuc.vn)
Nhan Dan Online – Vu Tuan San, a veteran researcher on Hanoi and Han – Nom study, won the Grand Prize of the 2014 ‘Bui Xuan Phai – For Love of Hanoi’ awards.
Born in 1915 in Hanoi, San is appreciated as one of avant-gardes in conducting historical research on Thang Long – Hanoi. Fluent in French, Han (Chinese script) and Nom (Vietnamese ideographic script), he is also a famous translator of Han – Nom poems, under the penname of Tao Trang.
Prominent among his work is ‘Ha Noi Xua Va Nay’ (Hanoi in the Past and at Present). The 980-page book includes 77 articles touching upon various topics about the history, geography, folklore arts, literature and traditional crafts of the capital.
Winners of the Best Work Prize, Job Prize and Idea Prize were also announced at a ceremony held in Hanoi on August 28.
