Swedish TV chef Tareq Taylor will cook Hanoi’s popular dish bun cha (rice noodles with grilled pork and meatballs) for lunch at the Swedish Embassy in the capital city on Thursday.
Taylor who has over 25 years of experience as a master chef will prepare the Vietnamese dish the Swedish way for the first time, with tables placed outside the embassy, where sidewalks will turn into a street café.
Two hundred lunches will be served at VND25,000 (US$1) each from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the embassy at 2 Nui Truc Street in Ba Dinh District.
Tareq Taylor is a frequent guest on Swedish television culinary shows. For the past four years, he has appeared on Swedish state television’s popular cooking show “Trädgårdsonsdag” (Garden Wednesdays).
He has authored three best-selling books in Sweden.
The chef also participates in the BBC Lifestyle exclusive television series “Nordic Cookery with Tareq Taylor,” which explores the heart and soul of New Nordic Cuisine.
During the show, Taylor travels around the Nordic countries to meet local food producers, chefs, and specialists.
