Minh beats Wan in US Open third round

HA NOI (VNS) – Defending champion Nguyen Tien Minh beat Chia-Hsin Wan of Chinese Taipei in straight sets, in the third round of the 2014 Yonex Suffolk County Community College US Open Championships today.

The World No 17 needed just 28 minutes to complete a clinical demolition of the World No 84, 21-13, 21-7.

All other Vietnamese players were, however, ousted from the event.

Minh, who is the top seed here, will meet ninth seed Suppanyu Avihingsanon of Thailand in the next round.

The US$120,000 event will end this Sunday. – VNS
