A number of music concerts will excite audiences in both Ho Chi Minh City and the capital city of Hanoi this week by introducing several works performed by well-known local and international artists.
The “Tchaikovsky night,” taking place at 8:00 pm on June 6 and 7 at the Hanoi Opera House at 1 Trang Tien Street in Hoan Kiem District, will feature the performances of Japanese pianist Tamura Hibiki along with The Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.
Under the baton of Russian conductor Alexander Polyanichko, the professionals will play world-renowned masterpieces of Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky including Piano Concerto No.1 in Bb minor Op.23 and Symphony No.5 E minor, Op.64.
Twenty-eight year-old Tamura, who came to Vietnam to join a charitable concert entitled “Be brave, Japan” two years ago, is considered a child prodigy by starting to play the piano when he was only three.
“The Parisii Quartet” show, to be held at 8:00 pm on June 7 at L’Espace at 24 Trang Tien Street, is also expected to amaze audiences with works of such famed composers as Luigi Boccherini, Joseph Haydn, and Anton Webern, performed by four French professionals.
Comprising Arnaud Vallin (first violinist), Doriane Gable (second violinist), Dominique Lobet (violist) and Jean-Philippe Martignoni (cellist), the quartet was formed in 1983 by four lauded graduates of the Conservatory of Paris.
With excellent performances, the band is reputed for playing both instrumental and chamber music and received many awards, including the Charles Cros Great Prize in 2002 and Music Victory Award in 1994.
Another concert, “Viet Nam non nuoc ngan dam,” taking place at 8:00 pm on June 8 at the HCMC Opera House at 7 Lam Son Square in District 1, will showcase 21 Vietnamese folk songs performed by the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO).
Music enthusiasts coming to the show will enjoy the performances of Vietnamese artists including Danh Hung, Hong Vy, Pham Trang and Duyen Huyen, under the baton of young HBSO conductor Tran Nhat Minh.
