On June 5, a working session on associating economic growth with the development of culture, literature and arts in Khmer ethnic inhabited areas in southwestern region took place in the southern city of Can Tho.

The working session was held between the delegation of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Arts led by its chairman, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hong Vinh, and the Steering Committee for the Southwest.

Participants exchanges solutions to preserve and promote traditional culture of Khmer ethnic minority group such as improving the effectiveness of the Khmer ethnic language teaching programme; improving the quality of Khmer ethnic artistic troupes; promoting the dissemination of traditional culture through mass media; completing and supplementing policies on the preservation and promotion of tangible and intangible culture of Khmer ethnic group.

Mr. Vinh appreciated the role of the Steering Committee for the Southwest in economic development association with the preservation of Khmer ethnic traditional culture./.
