Mozambique celebrates President Ho’s birth anniversary

(VOV) -The Vietnamese Embassy and the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Mozambique held an incense offering ceremony on May 18 to commemorate the late President Ho Chi Minh on his 124th birthday.



Vietnamese diplomats, officials and expatriates laid floral tributes at a boulevard named after President Ho Chi Minh in Maputo capital.


Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung highlighted the tremendous contributions of President Ho to the national liberalisation cause. President Ho Chi Minh received great applause from the international community, and his ideology has become an invaluable asset for the Vietnamese people, he noted.

Trung called on overseas Vietnamese to study and follow Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples and make contributions to the homeland.


He also briefed attendees on the outcome of a project to upgrade Ho Chi Minh Square and Ho Chi Minh Statue, in Antananarivo capital of Madagascar, which was completed on his 124thbirth anniversary.


Ta Thiep, Secretary General of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Mozambique, gave a speech strongly opposing China’s illegal act in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone, affirming that China’s move has seriously violated Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty.


He asked China to withdraw its oil rig and ships from Vietnam’s waters, and voiced support for Vietnam’s peaceful solutions to protect national sovereignty and the legitimate rights of Vietnamese people.
