DAK LAK (VNS) — A fire ravaged a mahout house in the Bao Dai King’s private residence area in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak today morning.



Four fire engines and 50 firemen took more than one hour to stamp out the fire.


No casualties were reported. However, all the wooden pillars, the tile roof and the mahouts’ personal things were destroyed.


Director of the Dak Lak Relics Management Centre Y Ben Bya said that the house had been the rest house for mahouts who looked after elephants for the Bao Dai King. The house was scheduled to be restored to receive visitors.


The cause of the fire is being investigated. — VNS
