(Cinet)- National Academy of Music and some relevant agencies co-build and fulfill Document of Then singing of the Tay and Nunf ethnic groups.



The MOCST entrusts Vietnam National Academy of Music and some relevant provinces including Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Quang Ninh and bac Giang to build Plan to submit to the UNESCO to turn Then singing and a list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.


Until now, some provinces of Then singing collect and organize a recording and translation of Then rituals.


In July, the seminar of the Then singing will be organized to introduce the form and call for a recognition about Then singing as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.


Then singing festivals have been held in several northern provinces in recent times to introduce the genre to the public. Meanwhile, conferences will be held in the coming months to request additional support from international cultural experts.


Vietnam is currently home to seven examples of world intangible heritage listed by UNESCO: Hue’s royal court music; Gong space culture in the Central Highlands; Quan ho (love duet) singing; the Giong festival; Ca Tru ceremonial singing; Xoan singing; and the Worship of the Hung Kings.


This style of singing is a unique combination elements that is traditionally accompanied by a handmade gourd lute called a Dan Tinh or Tinh Tau.


Hat Then is closely linked to the spiritual life of certain ethnic peoples who perform it during rituals to pray for good health, a bumper crop and long life.
