US band to give free concerts in Vietnam

Famed American band “The Amigos” is set to give free concerts in Hanoi and Hue late next week.

The band will perform for free at Hanoi's Tuoi Tre (Youth) Theater at 8pm on Apr 11 before taking part in the 2014 Hue Festival, set to run from Apr 12 to 20.

Apart from a ticket-selling concert at the Hue Royal Palace’s Dong Thai Hoa Stage at 8g45pm on Apr 13, the band will also give free concerts and exchanges at the Hue Central Hospital from 10am to 11am on Apr 14 and at the Thua Thien – Hue Youth Center from 2pm to 3pm the same day.

The Amigos deliver foot-stomping, accordion-infused Americana music blending folk-rock, zydeco/cajun, and jazz.

The band, comprising Justin Poinndexter, Sam Reider, Noah Garabedian, Will Clark and Briana Thomas, has gone from sold-out shows at Lincoln Center to the Philadelphia Folk Festival and Nashville’s Music City Roots.

After having released their debut album, “Diner In The Sky,” they are now on a five-week tour of Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Laos and Burma as musical ambassadors for the U.S. State Department.
