The information was revealed at a working session in Can Tho city on April 15, between the Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region and regional authorities.

Nguyen Phong Quang, deputy head of the steering committee said the visit is a good chance for localities to introduce their potential and incentives to lure Japanese investors to the region, which has so far recorded the lowest foreign direct investment in the country.

According the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the steering committee, since Japan and Vietnam elevated their ties to extensive strategic partnership, Japanese firms are eager for seeking more investment opportunities in Vietnam.

As scheduled, the delegation will attend a conference on agriculture investment environment and cooperation in Can Tho and make fact-finding tours to some big businesses in Hau Giang, Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces.-VNA
