Nhan Dan Online- DeepBlue, a unique music band from Australia, will perform in Vietnam next week in Hanoi and at the Hue Festival.

They will showcase their unique take on orchestral music in a free performance on April 8 at the Voice of Vietnam Theatre (58 Quan Su street) in Hanoi before traveling to the Hue Festival.

While in Hanoi, they will also join two workshops with Vietnamese and international music students.

“We hope that DeepBlue’s performances will encourage young musicians to explore new and creative ways to perform,” said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Hugh Borrowman.

Beside their performance at the opening ceremony of the Hue Festival, DeepBlue will also give three more shows in Hue.

In 2011, DeepBlue, part band, part orchestra and part theatre, were one of the finalists on Australia’s Got Talent. They marry traditional string sections of an orchestra with a 5th section – digital and electronics. It is a rich mix of classical, pop and audio delivered with magnificent lighting and images. DeepBlue has broken free from the constraints of a traditional orchestra to provide an interactive and audience-driven experience.

Greta Kelly, DeepBlue violinist shared: “It’s such an honour to be invited to perform at the opening ceremony oftheHue Festival 2014and three more shows there. We very much look forward to this international cultural exchange in this beautiful, ancient city.”

DeepBlue, Australia’s string-rock sensation, remix original productions, pieces from around the world and Aussie classics with lush strings, big beats and rock n’ roll. There’s no conductor, there’s no music stands for the performers to hide behind, it’s all about allowing the audience to get a more intimate sense of the music. The visual and theatrical elements are intergrated with the music to make up the total DeepBlue experience.
