Within the scope of the official visit to Vietnam from March 18-21, Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit paid a visit to Thua Thien Hue on March 20. Mr. Ngo Hoa, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, hosted a reception for the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess at Thai Hoa Palace, Hue Citadel.
On behalf of the authorities and people of Thua Thien Hue, Mr. Ngo Hoa expressed his sincere thanks to the Royal Norway, partners and people of Norway for their great concerns and assistances towards Thua Thien Hue, especially in the sectors of human cooperation, poverty reduction, gender equality, UXO clearance, human resources development, prevention and mitigation of natural disasters, community football development, etc. Tight cooperation between Norwegian NGOs and Thua Thien Hue during the past 20 years shows the friendship and solidarity of both sides. The province hopes to receive more assistances and cooperation with Norway in the sectors of investment, trade, ODA in terms of green development, prevention and mitigation of natural disasters, human resources training, health development, etc.
Crown Prince Haakon was grateful to the warm welcome of authorities and people of Thua Thien Hue in his first official trip to Vietnam. The Crown Prince and the Crown Princess were impressed by Hue heritages. Hue was also a cultural center of Vietnam that they longed to visit, they added. Thua Thien Hue is a province where Norwegian Embassy and Norwegian NGOs implement many practical projects and receive effective cooperation from the authorities. Crown Prince Haakon was also interested in children development cooperation, especially children in difficult circumstances, so as to help them grow up in a better and safer environment.
On the same day, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit paid a visit to Norwegian-funded projects in Thua Thien Hue, attended communications activities in terms of mine explosion prevention and community football in Huong Tra town, and swimming classes for children.
