The Asian Cup 2014 finals, the tournament for a ticket to the 2015 World Cup, will be held in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province in May. This is a unique opportunity for the Vietnamese team to realize the dream to attend the World Cup. Unfortunately, the team prepares for this event later than its rivals.

At the 2014 Asian Cup finals, Vietnam will be in Group A with Japan, Australia and Jordan. Japan and Australia are too strong so the Vietnamese team aims to defeat Jordan to rank third in Group A, to have a play-off game against the third team of Group B (most likely Myanmar or Thailand) to take the 5th ticket to the World Cup in 2015.

However, while the rivals have been training for a long time, the Vietnamese team was convened on March 12.

The team will be trained in Hanoi and Da Lat from March 13 through 28. The team will practice at the Young Football Training Center in Hanoi for 12 days before going to Guangzhou (China) from April 11 to 25 and to South Korea from April 26 to May 8.

The process of preparation of the Vietnamese team is the worst compared to its rivals.

To prepare for the tournament, the Jordanian team went to Japan in February for a training course.

“Jordan falls into a difficult group with the participation of the best teams of the continent – Japan, Australia and Vietnam. However, our goal is still to win a ticket to the 2015 Women’s World Cup. Jordan will play the first match with Vietnam, a strong opponent. It’s a crucial match to Jordan in this tournament. We have to win that game and I believe, my team will defeat Vietnam,” said Japanese coach Masahiko Okiyama of Jordan.

Myanmar even prepared for the even earlier than Jordan. Shortly after the 27th SEA Games, this team has been trained in Japan, with its Japanese coach Yusada.

Thailand, which defeated Vietnam in 27th SEA Games also prepares very thoughtful. Thanks to big investment from billionaire boss Worawi Maduki – Chairman of Thai Football Federation – the team played against the top clubs in Sweden and Japan.
