Indian Culture Week will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from March 6 to 15 as part of activities to boost the Vietnam – India cultural connection.
The event will be held by the Embassy of India in Hanoi, the Consulate General of India in HCMC, and India’s Ministry of Culture in collaboration with Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, HCMC’s People’s Committee, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, and the HCMC Union of Friendship Organizations.
It will feature a wide range of activities, including yoga performances and free yoga classes and traditional Indian dance performances at the HCMC Union of Friendship Organizations. A cuisine festival showcasing Indian foods made by native chefs and a Mehendi body painting performance will be held at the Sheraton Hotel from March 13 to 15.
6 major traditional folk dances of India will be presented at 7:30pm on March 14 at the HCMC Opera House and 7pm on March 1 at the Youth Culture House.
Moreover, a series of religious activities will be held. These include a Buddhist exhibition titled “Dharam Darshan” from March 6 to 14 at the city’s Finer Art Museum, and a Buddhist festival from March 6 to 10 at Pho Quang Pagoda with the participation of local and Indian monks.
Admission for all activities within Indian Culture Week is free, with the exception of the cuisine festival.
The organizers said the event will also be brought to Hanoi and Da Nang.
