Ho Chi Minh City plans care for its poor

Ho Chi Minh City has pledged to boost the implementation of measures in 2014 meeting the demands of the poor, contributing to ensuring social welfare and reducing poverty.

At a conference on March 26, Vice President of the municipal Fatherland Front, Huynh Dang Linh, said that the organisation will focus on supporting a public support fund to aid the poor.

The city also encourages health facilities and hospitals to provide free treatment and health insurance cards for the poor, people with disabilities and social policy beneficiaries, Linh said.

This year, it will continue helping people living in difficulty participate in vocational training and introducing them to ways to do effective business.

Last year, the city’s fund for the poor collected more than 122 billion VND (5.7 million USD).-VNA
