Vietnam National Museum of History will coordinate with Malaysia’s National Museum to organize an exhibition on Dong Son culture in Malaysia to celebrate 90 years of finding Dong Son culture.

Accordingly, about 100 objects and related documents focusing on five main subjects of Dong Son culture will be displayed at Malaysia’s National Museum in Jalan Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, from March 11 to May 5.

Dong Son culture belonged to the Iron Age in Vietnam and it was named after the discovery of bronze items in 1924 in Dong Son village (now Ham Rong district, Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam).

In 1934, the term “Dong Son culture” was made by a scholar, R. Heine Geldern, when he found a resemblance between the objects excavated there with previous collections.

Through studies, the Dong Son culture has been worked out. Dong Son culture was located in the North of Vietnam, from the Northern border to Deo Ngang mountain (connecting Ha Tinh and Quang Binh province). It developed around the Red River, Ma River and Lam River./.
