(VOV) -Vietnamese tennis players are ready for a Davis Cup Asia qualifier clash against Pakistani rivals in the Central Highlands resort city of Da Lat in February.
The first Asia/Oceania Zone Group II match will begin on February 14, the Vietnam Tennis Federation announced at a press conference n February 12.
According to the organisers, the tennis court and other competition facilities have been refurbished, with more than 1,000 seats installed to meet the ITF’s standards.
Chief coach Michael Baroch emphasised that the absence of Ly Hoang Nam will not affect the team’s line-up and tactics. Nguyen Hoang Thien and Le Quoc Khanh have already recovered from injury and are ready for the competition.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani team has adapted well to the mild Central Highlands climate at an altitude of 1,500 meters in Da Lat city.
Pakistani Captain Muhammad Khalid said the team experienced some difficulties when their key player – Aisam Qureshi, world’s No18 in doubles event, could not take part in the tournament but morale remains high and they have set their sights on a win.
Pakistan currently ranks 60th and Vietnam, 71th in the ITF Davis Cup ranking.
