Northern province sets up 6 poultry inspection stations

The People’s Committee of the northern province of Quang Ninh has decided to set up 6 stations to inspect the transport of animals, poultry, and animal and poultry products in the province.

The stations are responsible for inspecting the transport of poultry from outside of the province; seizing and destroying non-origin or non-quarantine animals and animal products; sanitising animal and poultry transporting vehicles; and punishing violations of current regulations.

The establishment of the stations aims to effectively prevent epidemics among animals and poultry, avoiding a spread of the diseases in the province during the period of the complex disease development.

Earlier, the provincial People’s Committee issued an official dispatch guiding increased prevention of epidemics among animals and poultry. Accordingly, the province forbids any import of poultry and poultry products; increases vaccination of poultry and environmental sanitation; and works with authorised agencies and local authorities to conduct quarantine activities at markets and supermarkets.

At present, Quang Ninh province is one of the localities where an active inspection program is being carried out, initiated by the Veterinary Department and international organizations and projects, to detect flu viruses and its variations among live poultry markets and illegally imported poultry./.
