The theme of the Equator Prize 2014 is Local Climate Action. There will be 25 winning initiatives, each receives a prize worth 5,000 USD with several selected prizes for special recognition worth a total of 20,000 USD each.
Representatives of all winning communities will be supported to participate in events during the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Summit and the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples in New York in September 2014.
Nominations may be submitted in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Indonesian, Malay, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese by March 3 2014 and sent via email to prize@equatorinitiative.org or Equatorinitiative – UNDP, 304 East 45th Street, Room 640, New York City, USA.

The Equator Prize awarded biennially since 2002 is part of the United Nations Millennium Development Goal to adopt global strategy of sustainable development.
