First international flight lands in Phu Quoc island

Nhan Dan Online – Phu Quoc island, in the southern province of Kien Giang, received its first ever international flight on February 14 carrying 250 Russian tourists from Russia.

This is an important milestone for the island marking a new development in the international integration of the Phu Quoc International Airport, operating under the Airports Corporation of Vietnam and Phu Quoc island.

The airport has worked with Turkish Pegas Touristik and the Anh Duong Tourist Company in Ho Chi Minh City to open one weekly direct flight from Rusia to Phu Quoc island using a Boeing 757 aircraft.

Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Jetstar Pacific have run domestic flights between Phu Quoc and Hanoi, Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, there are 25 flights using A321, A320 and ATR72 aircrafts taking off and landing in the airport everyday. The airport plans to accommodate further domestic and international flights in the future.
