(Cinet) – After five-days of the competition, Vietnam finished fourth at the seventh ASEAN Para Games in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on January 19, with a total of 48 gold, 65 silver and 75 bronze medals.
Nguyen Thi Hai won gold in the women’s F57 javelin event with a score of 24.88m. It was the second title for Hai, after her first gold medal in the discus event on January 17.
Nguyen Thi Thuy followed Hai to top the women’s T44 100m dash event. Thuy ran 15.84 seconds to smash her own previous ASEAN Para Games record set nine years ago in the Philippines. It was also the third gold medal won in Myanmar by the 50-year-old athlete, who previously won in the T44 long jump and 200m run categories.
Two other gold for the track-and-field team were won by Ha Thi Hue and Dong Dang Thanh. Both broke Para Games records as Hue set a new record of 18.26m in F37 in the discus throw category and Dong set a new record with 1.60m in the F42 high jump event.

All competition events concluded in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on January 19 with the closing ceremony held one day later at Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw in Myanmar.
