In the afternoon of January 14th, in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment had a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (MEITI) on cooperation between the two countries Vietnam and Japan in the field of land management. Accordingly, the main target of Vietnam by 2020 is to conduct a land information system. Japan committed to support Vietnam to carry out this important mission.

Cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan was specifically proved by the past 40 years. Most recent, in July 2013, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Linh Ngoc visited Japan, working with Meiti, Fujisu Corporation and witnessed the signing of the cooperative memorandum of information technology for natural resources and environment, first of all, it is necessary to focus in the field of land management and minerals. Accordingly, the Department of Information Technology along with Fujisu Corporation has conducted the collaborative project in the conduction of land information system. With the help of METI, Fujisu Corporation will implement the research of the feasibility before submitting the project to the Government of Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Hien said that Prime Minister of Vietnam has approved the project “Conducting a national database of land”. To carry out this project, Vietnam meets many difficulties of capital resource and techniques. Recently, Vietnam has received the support of South Korea on technical support in model construction of multi-objective information systems of land in Vietnam. Therefore, Japan should develop the content of the project to avoid overlapping projects, inheriting the achieved findings of the available data in Vietnam as well as satisfy the modernity of land information management, which is a very complicated issue of Vietnam.
