A Hang Trong folk painting themed 'Beautiful woman'



Nhan Dan Online – Dong Ho and Hang Trong, styles of Vietnamese folk painting are now on exhibit at the Heritage House, 87 Ma May Street from January 24 to February 16.

The event, held by the Hanoi’s Old Quarter Management Board, is part of celebrations for the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.


Hang Trong folk paintings are often used in the decoration of temples, pagodas and shrines.


Dong Ho folk paintings often depict a legend or philosophical fable, and tell stories of the Vietnamese people’s morality and beliefs as well as their wishes for happiness and luck.


As part of Tet celebrations, the Hanoi’s Old Quarter Management Board has organised a wide variety of traditional art performances in historical sites of the Old Quarter including Kim Ngan Temple at 42-44


Hang Bac Street, Dong Lac Temple at 38 Hang Dao Street and at the Old Quarter Information Centre at 28 Hang Buom Street.
