Yesterday, Vietnamese footballer Le Cong Vinh became the first player of the Vietnam football league to score 100 goals when Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) won 6-1 against Quang Nam.

At the 70th minute of the match in Vinh Stadium, the player, who has just refused to extend his contract with Japanese club Consadole Sapporo, sent the ball to the far low corner of the goal with a strong kick to extend the gap to 6-0.

Although the goal didn’t play a decisive role in the match because SLNA was already winning 5-0, Vinh celebrated it excitedly, bending down to kiss the muddy surface of the stadium.

Earlier at the 41st minute, Vinh scored a goal but it was not admitted by the referee, who called it ‘offside’. A television slow motion replay showed that the goal was legal and the referee had made a mistake.

Vinh said he was happy to become the first player in the V-League to score 100 goals, and added that he missed the chance to conquer the record during last season because he was sent to Consadole Sapporo on a loan contract.

With the win, SLNA climbed to the top of the V-League’s rankings after two rounds with six points, above Hanoi T&T on goal difference.
