Delegates at the working session

PANO – A delegation, led by Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, on July 9th worked with the People’s Committee and other relevant agencies of Thai Nguyen province.

The participants discussed the restoration and embellishment of the “five-door cellar” where General Nguyen Chi Thanh, first Director of the General Department of Politics, once lived and worked from 1950 to 1954.

This is one of the relics in the relic complex in the Dinh Hoa Safety Zone rated by the Government as “the most important relic complex of Vietnam in the 20th century.” In 2004, the relic was embellished by the Ministry of National Defence. Five years later, the General Department of Politics built a road leading to the site. On December 12th 2014, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized the cellar as a national heritage site.

At the meeting, General Nghia highlighted the position, role, and significance of the relic to troops of the general department in particular and the whole army in general. The general hoped that the restoration and embellishment of the relic would be soon implemented, making it not only a tourist attraction but also a place for the education of revolutionary tradition for youngsters.

For their part, representatives of Thai Nguyen province agreed with the officer and would make plans for the project for submission to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before the two sides work out the size and the funding of the structure.
