PANO – The 2015 “Great Unity of Ethnic Minority Groups-Vietnam’s Cultural Heritages” Week under the theme ‘Constant belief” opened at the Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Minority Groups in Hanoi on the evening of November 15th.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) Nguyen Thien Nhan emphasized that since the Hung Kings founded the country, our compatriots have always been side by side with each other and show a strong sense of solidarity to overcome any challenges to write brilliantly golden pages of the nation.
Especially, over the past 85 years, under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh as well as great contributions of the National United Front of different periods, the patriotic tradition and high spirit of solidarity of 54 ethnic minority groups from the North to the South have been further consolidated. This national cultural value, together with other cultural values, has become the great strength and a self-reliant will that forms the beauty and identities of Vietnamese people and the Vietnamese nation.
“That very precious cultural heritage needs to be inherited, passed on, preserved and promoted”, said the VFFCC President. He believed that Vietnamese people at home and abroad would continue to bring into play the national pride, strengthen the great unity bloc, and further devote strength and intelligence, as well as make the most of opportunities and surmount challenges for the goal of “Wealthy people, a strong country, an equitable, democratic and civilized society”.
The week started with a series of art performances featuring intangible cultural heritages of the country and in praise of the Party and the nation as well as the strength of the great unity bloc.
It will continue with a number of key programs, including an exhibition highlighting the great unity bloc of the nation, a showcase of 120 big posters welcoming the 12th National Party Congress, an exhibition themed “Lotus in the Vietnamese culture”, a space of traditional markets, investment promotion conferences, and an introduction of traditional products of Vietnam.
Impressively, traditional festivals of different minority groups of Vietnam, such as prayer for rain the wedding ceremony, and hair-washing ceremony, are hoped to provide domestic and international visitors with further understanding of the ethnic people and their typical cultures.
The week, jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, VFFCC and the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, is in celebration of the 85th traditional anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18th, 1930-2015), the Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Day on November 23rd and the 12th National Party Congress.
