<div>At the May meeting on socio-economic issues of the municipal People’s Committee on May 30, Director of the department Bui Ta Hoang Vu said his agency had been working with several airlines to boost Vietnamese images to India. He noted that while 1.6 million Indians travelled to Thailand in 2017, only 170,000 visited Vietnam.</div>
<div>The low-cost airline Vietjet Air is scheduled to open direct flights between HCM City and India this September.</div>
<div>The Tourism Department has developed products designed for this market and held some tourism promotion activities in the country.</div>
<div>Mr. Vu added that the department has also asked local restaurants to design dishes specifically for Indian guests.</div>
<div>It was reported at the meeting that 566,390 foreign tourists arrived in the city in May, up 37 percent year on year. Revenues from tourism came to around 9.3 trillion VND (over 406 million USD), up 3.03 percent.</div>
<div>For the January-May period, the total number of foreign arrivals was 3.18 million, a 32 percent increase, while tourism revenues were estimated at 51.65 trillion VND, up 14.8 percent.</div>
<div>A recent survey jointly conducted by the Tourism Department and the municipal Statistics Office showed tourists both domestic and foreign stayed for an average 5 days in the city and spent around 145 USD a day, which showed a reduction in stay duration compared to a survey of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration in 2013 but the spending remained the same.</div>
<div>Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong stressed that tourism has been defined as a spearhead economic sector of the city. He urged the tourist officials and bussinesses to study ways to keep visitors stay longer.</div>

Quang Ninh: Tourist arrivals pick up 26 percent in first five months

<p><strong>Quang Ninh (VNA)</strong> – Tourist arrivals to the northern province of Quang Ninh hit 6.6 million in the first five months of 2018, an increase of 26 percent from the same period last year.</p>
<p>Of the number, 2.17 million were foreigners, up 12 percent year on year.</p>
<p>The province’s January-May revenue from tourism exceeded 11 trillion VND (484 million USD), up 32 percent year on year.</p>
<p>In May, Quang Ninh hosted a series of tourism activities as part of the National Tourism Year 2018 – Ha Long – Quang Ninh, including Miss Ha Long 2018, art programme “Hello Ha Long 2018” and the cultural, sports and tourism week in Co To island.</p>
<p>A number of cultural and entertainment events also took place in Quan Lan and Minh Chau Islands alongside a cross-country cycling tour from Sa Vi Cape in Mong Cai, Quang Ninh to the southernmost province of Ca Mau, a street festival and a tennis tournament in Mong Cai.</p>
<p>The province has stepped up communications campaigns to promote the National Tourism Year 2018 in Ha Long, Quang Ninh and taken actions to improve services of local travel agencies and tour guides.</p>
<p>Quang Ninh has a coastline of more than 250 kilometres and some 2,000 islets, two-thirds of the total in Vietnam. The spectacular stretch of coast connects the UNESCO-recognised World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay with majestic natural scenery, Bai Tu Long Bay, Van Don and Co To islands and Tra Co beach with Cat Ba National Park in the northern port city of Hai Phong.</p>
<p>This year, Quang Ninh expects to welcome 12 million visitors, including five million foreigners to earn 22 trillion VND (968 million USD) in revenue. It is hosting the National Tourism Year 2018, themed “Ha Long – Heritage, Wonder, Friendly Destination.”</p>
<p>Last year, the province received a total of 9.87 million travellers, including 4.28 million international holidaymakers.-VNA</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – The Lao tourism industry employs 114,000 people and is considered a top revenue earner of the country.</p>
<p>According to the latest report by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) cited by the Vientiane Times, tourism employment is expected to hit 121,000 or three percent of the Lao workforce in 2028.</p>
<p>Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Ounthuang Khaophanh said the sector drives economic growth and poverty alleviation.</p>
<p>It has helped improve infrastructure, including the building of roads, airports and hotels, he added.</p>
<p>In 2017, Laos’ GDP received 2 billlion USD from tourism, a figure forecast to hit 3.3 billion USD this year.</p>
<p>The local Government has launched the Laos Tourism Year 2018 in an effort to lure more tourists.-VNA </p>

<div>The country saw a rise of 33.3 percent in international visitors from Asian market against the same period last year with more than 5 million tourists. Of which, the number of visitors from China increased most by 37 percent, South Korea 62.1 percent and Japan 6.6 percent, Malaysia 12.5 percent, Thailand 9.1 percent and Singapore 5.4 percent.</div>
<div>The number of visitors from the European market rose by 11.8 percent with remarkable growth in Russia by 9.2 percent, the UK by 9.6 percent, France by 13.1 percent, Germany by 8.5 percent, Italia by 18.3 percent.</div>
<div>In addition, the country also saw a surge in the number of visitors from the America by 13.8 percent and the Oceania by 12.1 percent.</div>

<p>Ten hamlet in Thai Nguyen province used to be extremely poor. The roads leading to the hamlet were tortuous and steep and the locals lived below the poverty line. But now, thanks to the government’s help, it has become an attractive destination to tourists interested in exploring the Mong culture.</p>

<p>Ten hamlet is 1,200 meters above sea level. It is in the highest, least accessible area of Thai Nguyen province.</p>
<p>A field of buckwheat flowers at the hamlet’s center welcomes visitors. Nguyen Van Vi, a visitor from Hanoi, said, “The culture in Ten hamlet is very special. Before the visit, we knew very little about the customs of the Mong people. Here I’ve learned lots of very interesting things.”</p>
<p>Visitors to Ten hamlet enjoy listening to the panpipe, a typical part of the local culture.</p>
<p>Pham Quang Linh, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dong Hy district, said, “The Mong ethnic heritage needs to be preserved. We intend to teach the younger generation our panpipe melodies so they can preserve this heritage.”</p>
<p>Another attraction of Ten hamlet is its food. At this year’s Mong culture and sports festival, the Mong hamlets cooked “mèn mén”, steamed minced corn, and “thắng cố”, a dish made from horse meat and organs.</p>

<p>Ly Van Mung, a resident of Ten hamlet, said once you try it, you will never forget it.</p>
<p>“All dishes are prepared and cooked hygienically for tourists. After tasting the food, all of them agree that the dishes are delicious,” Mung said.</p>
<p>During their festival, the locals play folk games like top spinning and nightingale fighting.</p>
<p>The festival is seen as a way to improve living conditions in these mountain villages.</p>
<p>Linh said Dong Hy district has more than 500 Mong families with more than 2,700 people who are determined to preserve their traditional culture.</p>
<p>“Over the years, we have changed the face of Dong Hy district and Van Lang commune. Roads have been built that lead directly to the hamlet. Ten hamlet has also been connected to the electric power grid,” said Linh.</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – The New York-based travel site Thrillist has included Cat Co 2 beach on Cat Ba island, northern Hai Phong city, and Thom beach on Phu Quoc island, southern Kien Giang province, on its list of the best seaside getaways in Vietnam.</p>
<p>Situated 45km to the east of Hai Phong, Cat Ba boasts crystal-clear waters, jungles and ancient fishing villages, but has managed to keep a relatively low profile despite being just south of the world-famous Ha Long Bay.</p>
<p>The travel site described Cat Co 2 as “the most relaxed of Cat Ba’s three beaches” and a place where travellers can take in a panoramic view of the amazing island surrounded by spectacular limestone mountains.</p>
<p>It described Thom beach on Phu Quoc island as “Nested in the forest that dominates this island, Thom beach is too far off the beaten track for coach tourists but brings in enough intrepid backpackers to sustain the local snack shacks and their surprisingly delicious homebrewed beer.”</p>
<p>Cat Ba island is set to become an eco-smart island and a national tourism site, according to Hai Phong’s tourism development plan period 2017-2020.</p>
<p>Located 150 kilometres from Hanoi, Cat Ba consists of 366 large and small islands, beaches and limestone mountains. In 2004, Cat Ba island was recognised by the UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Phu Quoc, 40km west of southern Kien Giang province, is dubbed the “pearl” island.</p>
<p>Phu Quoc features a monsoon tropical climate. It has two seasons, the dry season from November to April and the rainy season from May to October. The average temperature is 28 degrees Celsius, allowing visitors to enjoy the island’s beauty at any time of the year.</p>
<p>The Phu Quoc National Park is one of the most attractive places in the district. It is home to 929 plant species, of which 42 are listed in the Vietnamese and world red books of endangered species. The park is part of the Kien Giang biosphere reserve, which was recognised as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2006.-VNA</p>

<p>The event was attended by the leaders of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces; representatives of tourism associations and tourism enterprises in the provinces; representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, the Department of Tourism Marketing of Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos; representatives of the Laos Tourism Association and many tourism businesses in the Businessmen Association and Vietnam – Laos Friendship Association, along with a large number of media and newspapers in Laos and Vietnam.</p>
<p>Addressing the event, the Deputy Director of the Nghe An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Thi Thanh An, said the program aimed to introduce the tourism potential and enhance the cooperation and development of tourism between Vietnam’s Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh provinces with Laos.</p>
<p>In addition, the program also aimed to attract more visitors from Lao and other countries to the North Central provinces of Vietnam. The event was also considered as an opportunity for the tourism businesses and tourism associations of Vietnam and Laos to meet and exchange information.</p>
<p>Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Lao Association of Travel Agents, Somphong Deviengxay, said the cooperation and development of tourism between Laos-Vietnam in general, and between Vietnam’s North Central provinces and Laos in particular, not only creates revenue for the national budget but also helps to strengthen the solidarity between the two countries.</p>
<p>Under the framework of the promotion program, businesses from Laos and the three provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh also met to exchange information and sign cooperation programs.</p>

Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – Hanoi will host the 16th annual meeting of the Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia (CPTA) between September 5 and 10.</p>
<p>Participants of the event are representatives from CPTA member cities, including Tokyo (Japan), Bangkok (Thailand), Delhi (India), Jakarta (Indonesia), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Metropolitan Manila (the Philippines), Seoul (the Republic of Korea), Taipei (Taiwan – China), and Tomsk (Russia).</p>
<p>The meeting is set to review cooperative activities implemented during the past years and design plans to carry out new projects.</p>
<p>Participant will define responsibilities of state tourism management agencies and municipal governments, as well as tourism agencies and businesses in developing tourism in CPTA member cities.</p>
<p>During the meeting, CPTA member cities will seek measures to lure more visitors to Asia through cooperative projects, programmes and campaigns.</p>
<p>The meeting will also focus on strengthening cooperation between member cities as well as between tourism promotion agencies and businesses.</p>
<p>On the sidelines of the event, the host city plans to hold a tourism promotion conference to help connect CPTA member cities with local firms. The sidelines activities also include an exposition, and tours for participating delegates around tourist destinations in Hanoi.-VNA</p>

<div><strong>Nghe An (VNA)</strong> – Over 38,600 visitors arrived at Kim Lien relic site in Nam Dan district, the central province of Nghe An from May 17-19, on the occasion of the 128th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19).
<p>During the period, the site welcomed over 12,000 each day.</p>
<p>There were 880 delegations, including over 221 foreigners, marking an increase of 18,000 visitors from 2017.</p>
<p>Nguyen Bao Tuan, Director of the Kim Lien relic site, said President’s this year birthday coincides with weekend so that the site recorded a hike in tourist arrivals.</p>
<p>Moreover, Sen village festival in the site also attracted crowds with a singing and beauty competition, and a youth camp.</p>
<p>From May 10-20, the site will be open further one hour to serve tourists.</p>

While the Phong Nha –Ke Bang national park is home to thousands of natural caves, luring millions of visitors every year.</p>

<div>Passengers under preferential treatment policy can choose the biggest percentage discount among promotions that they receive.</div>
<div>In order to restrict speculation in train tickets, the station will only accept and release the tickets when passengers provide their identity card or other personal papers which have photographic identification.</div>
<div>Under the decision, tranposrt firms can aslo expand the kinds of passengers who will get benefits from their promotional programs.</div>

<p><strong>Nghe An (VNA)</strong> – A conference was held in the central province of Nghe An on May 18 to introduce the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s tourism and air routes to the RoK, drawing representatives of over 40 travel firms from Nghe and neighbouring Ha Tinh province.</p>
<p>The event, jointly held by the RoK Tourism Organisation in Vietnam and the Department of Tourism of the central province of Nghe An, aimed to provide information of diverse tourism services and products suitable to the demand of local customers.</p>
<p>In the recent two years, thousands of Nghe An tourists have chosen the RoK to travel. This year, a cooperation programme will be held from June to December between the RoK and the Vietnam Society of Travel in Nghe An with the supply of various tourism products.</p>
<p>According to the RoK Tourism Organisation in Vietnam, in 2017, the Eastern Asian country welcomed about 330,000 Vietnamese tourists.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Vietnam served more than 2 million Korean visitors in the year, a surge of 56.4 percent year-on-year. In January this year, 316,300 Korean tourists visited Vietnam, a year-on-year jump of 84 percent.</p>
<p>Currently, there are more than 112,200 Vietnamese people living in the Republic of Korea, while about 150,000 Koreans are living in Vietnam.-VNA</p>

<p><strong>Quang Ninh (VNA) –</strong> The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has called for local travel agents’ registration for the 2019 ASEAN Tourism Forum Travel Exchange (Travex), which will be held in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh on January 16-18, 2019.</p>
<p>Travex is among the most long-standing annual travel fairs in ASEAN as part of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF). Quang Ninh province will host the ATF 2019 from January 14-19 next year under the theme “ASEAN: The Power of One”.</p>
<p>The travel exchange will feature 450 pavilions of ASEAN nations, including 100 booths of host Vietnam.</p>
<p>It provides a platform for tourism firms of Vietnam and ASEAN to meet and strengthen cooperation with more than 400 international buyers and reporters from major tourism markets such as the US, Europe and Northeast Asia, among others.</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA) –</strong> The Tam Chuc national tourism site, together with its adjacent tourism clusters, is expected to form an attractive tourism centre of the Red River Delta, the north-east coastal region and the nation at large by 2030 under a master plan recently approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.</p>
<p>The tourism site is located in Ba Sao town and Vong, Khuyen Cong and Kha Phong villages of Kha Phong commune, Kim Bang district, the Red River Delta province of Ha Nam, with its core area covering 4,000 hectares.</p>
<p>According to the master plan, by 2025, Tam Chuc will basically meet criteria set for a national tourism area. By 2030, it will become a national tourism area with comprehensive infrastructure facilities and high-quality products, contributing to local socio-economic development.</p>
<p>It is expected to welcome about 3.7 million visitors by 2025, of whom 470,000 are foreigners. The respective figures will be 6 million and 750,000 five years later.</p>
<p>The site is also set to create jobs for 2,400 labourers in 2025 and 4,500 people in 2030.</p>
<p>It is projected to generate about 1.1 trillion VND (48.4 million USD) in 2025 and over 1.7 trillion VND (74.8 million USD) in 2030.-VNA</p>

<div><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Nguyen Van Tuan has stated that Vietnam welcomes visitors across the world to the country, however, they must abide by Vietnamese law.
<p>He told the media on May 15 in response to a group of Chinese tourists wearing T-shirts featuring the illicit “nine-dash line” map that suggests China’s groundless territorial claims in the East Sea while entering Nha Trang city, the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa.</p>
<p>It was not until they passed immigration procedures that authorities realised their clothes featured the map.</p>
<p>Tuan urged localities to direct tourists, inbound and outbound travel agencies abide by legal regulations, preventing similar occurrences and impacts on tourism cooperation between the two countries.</p>
<p>He took the occasion to ask tour operators to learn from the lesson and better monitor visitors.</p>
<p>In 2014, a Chinese couple were caught attempting to bring bundles of world maps showing the illicit “nine-dash line” into Vietnam through Moc Bai border gate in the southern province of Tay Ninh.</p>
<p>The “nine-dash line” is a widely rejected cow tongue-shaped line illegally created by China to claim its sovereignty over about 80 percent of the East Sea, including Vietnam’s Paracel (Hoang Sa) and Spratly (Truong Sa) archipelagoes.</p>
<p>Vietnam has consistently rejected China’s territorial claims as they are not based on any legal foundation and violate the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.-VNA</p>

<div>Director of the management board of the Cu Lao Cham-Hoi An Biosphere Reserve, Tran Thi Hong Thuy said that the mag stripe access control system is designed to serve around 12,000 visitors per hour, reduce the overload at the entrance gate and the amount of paper waste to limit harm to the environment.</div>
<div>The Cu Lao Cham-Hoi An Biosphere Reserve received more than 400,000 visitors in 2017 and nearly 100,000 travelers in the first four months in this year.
<div>Cu Lao Cham (Cham Island), in Hoi An town of the central province of Quang Nam, received recognition as a world biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2009, is regarded as a biological tourist heaven, attracting large numbers of visitors.
<div>The archipelago, with eight big and small islands covers an area of 15 square kilometers.</div>
<div>According to scientists, Cu Lao Cham is home to over 947 species, of which 170 are sea organisms, 50 are fish, and many other species classified as endangered by Vietnam’s Red Book. The area is also home to 135 species of coral, including six that are new to Vietnamese seas.</div>

<p>Co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Agency of Art, Photography and Exhibition, the provincial Tourism Department, the provincial Department of Culture and Sports and the provincial Association of Literature and Arts, the exhibition was in response to the National Tourism Year 2018 Ha Long – Quang Ninh.</p>
<p>After a 10-day fact-finding trip to all 14 localities in the province, photographers vividly depicted portraits of mining workers, the lives and beauty of local people, culture, landscapes and tourism in ethnic minorities groups as well as the world natural wonder Ha Long Bay.</p>

<p>The Hanoi Department of Transport has issued a decision to approve the open-top double-decker bus tour route.</p>
<p>The route will have 13 stops, including one located near Hoan Kiem Lake to provide tourism information for visitors. Initially, three buses will be used for the route.</p>
<p>There will be different kinds of tickets for customers to choose such as tickets for one day for two days.</p>
<p>Information about Hanoi’s landscapes and historical sites to serve travellers have been submitted to Hanoi authorities for consideration.</p>
<p>The municipal People’s Committee has asked municipal management agencies to trim trees and adjust electric wires for the operation of the tour service.</p>
<p>Earlier in June last year, Hanoi piloted this bus tour service in the city-centre area. However, one month later, the Ministry of Transport asked Hanoi and localities nationwide to halt this to wait for the government’s instruction.</p>

<div><strong>Bac Lieu (VNA)</strong> – Boasting various tourist attractions like Quan Am Nam Hai festival, Xiem Can pagoda and bird sanctuary, among others, the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu will splash out 1.35 trillion VND (59.4 million USD) on various solutions to local tourism development until 2020 with a vision until 2030.
<p>Improving tourism services, bettering transport roads and restoring cultural and historic sites are put at the first line of the solutions. Besides, the locality also pays due attention to setting up mechanisms and policies to call for investment in tourism projects in the province.</p>
<p>According to Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Cao Xuan Thu Van, the province is currently home to 50 accommodation facilities with nearly 1,200 rooms. The Mekong Delta Tourism Association has listed Bac Lieu province among localities having outstanding tourism products in the southern key economic region.</p>
<p>The regional “One destination-Four localities Plus” tourism product comprises five provinces of Can Tho, An Giang, Kien Giang, Ca Mau and Bac Lieu, he added.</p>
<p>From the outset of the year, the province raked in over 110 billion VND (4.84 million USD) from welcoming 120,000 tourist arrivals, including 3,200 foreigners.</p>
<p>This year, the local tourism sector strives to earn 1.28 trillion VND (56.32 million USD) in tourism revenue, up 6.7 percent from 2017. It targets over 1.6 million tourists, a year-on-year surge of 9.3 percent, with 41,000 foreigners.-VNA  </p>

<p>The central city of Danang will be host to a vast array of activities this summer as it makes efforts to attract more visitors.</p>

<p>May will start with the Ironman 70.3 triathlon, drawing the participation of more than 1,400 athletes from 59 countries around the world.</p>
<p>A programme titled “Danang – summer rendezvous 2018” is scheduled to take place in late June, featuring many special activities which promise new and interesting experiences for visitors.</p>
<p>In addition, the International Theatre Institute (ITI) have chosen Danang as the perfect location to host the first-ever World Performing Arts Festival.</p>
<p>Around 20 art troupes from ITI member countries, including Vietnam, will take part in the festival from July 1-8.</p>
<p>Tran Chi Cuong, vice director of the Danang Department of Tourism, said the city has implemented measures to ensure the safety of visitors and local people when attending this summer’s big events.</p>
<p>Coastal rescue forces are being trained and will be on duty to ensure the safety of all participants engaging in entertainment activities, while environment, food hygiene, and safety and social orders are to be beefed up at all entertainment sites, said Cuong.</p>

<div>According to the Tourism Promotion Center, Vietnam ranks the 2nd among Asian’s commercial partners of Cuba.</div>
<div>In 2017, Cuba received more than 4.7 million visitors and earned US$3 billion in tourism revenue. Cuba is regarded as the country has a potential to be an attractive destination after Mexico with an estimated number of tourists of 12 million in the upcoming years.</div>
<div>Last year, around 2,500 Vietnamese travelers visited Cuba. However, travel firms said that they have met difficulty in visa application and problems with paying fees for tourist groups.</div>
<div>Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Center, said the center will cooperate with the Cuban Consul General in HCM City to solve these issues for businesses.</div>
<div>According to Ben Thanh Tourist, the company’s two tourist groups will come to Cuba to learn about trade and investment environment in August and November.</div>

<div>Vietnam leaded Southeast Asian countries in the number of MICE tourists of 55,918 visiting Korea in 2017, up 70 percent compared to the same period last year. About 15,121 Vietnamese MICE visitors came to Korea in the first four months in this year, up 20 percent versus year ago.</div>
<div>Korea expects to receive over 400,000 Vietnamese visitors in 2018, up 25 percent compared with last year.</div>

<p>(VEN) – Nghe An Province is endowed with beautiful natural landscapes and is home to many ethnic minority groups with unique cultures. Travel businesses and local residents in the province are offering attractive homestay tours, notable ones being those in Quy Chau District.</p>
<div>
<p>Located in the western part of Nghe An Province, Quy Chau is inhabited by Thai ethnic people whose tradition is based on rice cultivation and textile and woodwork crafts.</p>
<p>Thai women in Hoa Tien Village have been well known for their brocade weaving techniques and skills for many generations.</p>
<p>The brocade products were originally made for family needs and as a dowry for brides. The Thai women in Hoa Tien are adept at weaving silk and cotton and using herbs, flowers, leaves, and bark as natural dyes, adding unique value to their products.</p>
<p>A variety of activities for every taste awaits visitors to Hoa Tien. They have an opportunity to enjoy local foods, learn how to make banh chung (square glutinous rice cake filled with green bean paste and fat pork) and drink local wine.</p>
<p>They can also join in brocade weaving, bamboo dancing, a game of throwing cotton balls and Nhuon singing activities.</p>
<p>Foreign visitors are drawn to Hoa Tien Village out of curiosity about the cultures of the different ethnic groups in general and of the Thai in particular. Being able to join in local activities adds a particularly worthwhile dimension to the visit.</p>
<p>Marcos Daniel from Portugal said he enjoyed trying to make banh chung and other cakes. Jagli Lena from Switzerland said she participated in many Vietnamese traditional games but loved performing the bamboo dance most. Most foreign visitors to the western part of Nghe An Province choose homestay tours which expose them to first-hand information and experience of local life and culture.</p>
<p>Brocade production, watering wheels, and folk games have been well preserved in Hoa Tien. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Deputy Chairman of the Quy Chau District People’s Committee, said many delegations, including foreign visitor groups, come to Hoa Tien both for cultural research and culinary enjoyment. The district is developing ecological tours to attract more visitors in the coming time, Ha said.</p>
<p>Nghe An is strengthening regional connectivity by encouraging travel businesses to work with local residents and authorities to develop community-based tours.</p>

<p>The Saigon – Nha Trang railway route is 411.2km long with 36 train stations. As per proposal, this project will help improve railway infrastructure by applying a unified regulatory center and active safety systems, reducing the number of concurrent parking stops, thus increasing the railway throughput by 35-40 percent.</p>
<p>Consequently, that will save energy and reduce costs of repairing moving parts of trains and railways by 15-20 percent.</p>
<p>The project also contributes to ensuring the safety and raising the speed of the train and minimizing the number of accidents owing to preventing the risk of passing red lights, exceeding speed limits, colliding other trains… by using the equipment to protect the train automatically.</p>
<p>Furthermore, it also helps to control the entire work of the train drivers, to assist in early notification of trains approaching the crossroads guarded by sentry men to improve safety at negligible expenses.</p>
<p>In case it is approved, VNR leaders say, the project is expected to be implemented within 18 months. The total cost of equipment, including installation and technical assistance by experts is about US$ 10.83 million, equivalent to VND 245.6 billion (if German equipment is used) or US$ 11 million (nearly VND 250 billion) if German equipment is not used.</p>
<p>The consultant proposed a formula of cooperation in the form of BT (build-transfer), in which investors bear 70% and the Vietnam government invests 30% of the capital. The government will reimburse the investment cost to the investors after the project goes into operation.</p>
<p>According to VNR, if the study and implementation of the project on the Nha Trang – Saigon route prove safe and effective, this will lay the basis for consideration and implementation of other similar projects.</p>

<p>The increase is aimed to serve travel demand of people during the peak time of summer. During this period, it is estimated that people will surely plan to tour to the coastal central provinces of the country.</p>
<p>The flights will depart from Hanoi to Dong Hoi at 6am on Tuesdays to Sundays every week. From June 4 to August 27, the flights will depart everyday a week. The flight duration will take one hour each way.</p>
<p>On this occasion, VNA will offer promotional tickets costing from VND 600,000 per economy class and VND 1.8million per business class (not include tax and fee).</p>

<p>Deputy Director of Thua Thien – Hue provincial Department of Tourism Nguyen Van Phuc said that the provincial tourism identity includes a logo designed by Nguyen Thien Duc from the Hue University of Arts and a slogan created by Nguyen Phu Duc, former Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.</p>
<p>The logo is a combination of well-known images in Hue, including the Lau Ngu Phung (Five Phoenix Pavilion), the Truong Tien bridge, and the Huong River, while the slogan “Hue – Kinh do xua, trai nghiem moi” translates as ‘Hue – ancient capital, new experience’.</p>
<p>The announcement of the provincial tourism branding identity will contribute to promoting the development of tourism in Thua Thien – Hue, while affirming the attractiveness of the ancient capital.</p>
<p>Tourism has been identified as a key economic sector in Thua Thien– Hue as it has made significant contributions to the province’s budget and socio-economic development.</p>
<p>The province welcomed more than 1.5 million visitors in the first four months of 2018, up 40 percent over the same period in 2017, including 600,000 foreign visitors, up 70 pct over the same period last year.</p>

<p>In the past few years, the island commune has developed community tourism models, making contributions to socio-economic development for Ha Tien District.</p>
<p>In December 2017, the Kien Giang People’s Committee recognised the archipelago as a local tourism site.</p>
<p>Tourists coming to Ha Tien District are always curious of Hai Tac archipelago, a famed place in the southwest sea of the country. According to local historic documents, in 17th century, Mac Thien Tich, a leader of the region, many times ordered his troops to fight against local pirates, who lived in the area. The archipelago name Hai Tac originated from that time.</p>

<p>“Besides its mysterious name, Tien Hai island commune has great potential for developing tourism thanks to its primitive landscapes, fresh and cool atmosphere,” said Tang Hong Phuoc, deputy director of Ha Tien Town’s Centre for Trade and Tourism Promotion.</p>
<p>In order to utilise the tourism potential, in 2014 the local authorities implemented a community tourism project for the period 2014-2020.</p>
<p>The commune consists of 16 large and small islands, locating 20km from Ha Tien Town and 40km from Phu Quoc Island.</p>
<p>The commune hosts 500 families with 2,000 people, who live mainly in Hon Tre Lon, Hon Giang, Hon Duoc and Hon U.</p>
<p>The biggest among the islands is Hon Tre Lon (also know as Hon Doc), which is an administration and socio-economic centre for the Tien Hai island commune.</p>
<p>All people and agencies in the commune are informed about the project and encouraged to join in voluntarily.</p>

<p>Hon Tre Village was chosen as a trial model with 17 families, who meet the requirements, to join the community tourism project.</p>
<p>Eleven households among them offer food and accommodation services, four households have acted as guides to take visitors to islands and fishing; and two households keep sea fish for visitors to understand raising local fish. Two companies have been specialised in transporting tourists to and from the mainland.</p>
<p>“Over the last three years, the project has brought along active results,” said Phuoc, “The number of guests coming every year has significantly increased and is now up to 70,000 tourists per year.”</p>
<p>Visitor Nguyen Thi Hong Phuong from Rach Gia City, northern province of Kien Giang said she spent two vacations in the area.</p>
<p>“What I like most when stay at the home of locals in Tien Hai is that I can live near them, see their routines and imagine as if I were a local,” she said.</p>
<p>However, the area is still lack of fresh water and electricity.</p>

<p>“By 2020, the national electricity system will reach the islands,” Phuoc said, “Tourism service will be better”.</p>
<p>“Its name “Hai Tac” (Pirates) is scary but actually the islands are beautiful in peace and many romantic beaches with white sand and blue water run long,” Phuong said.</p>
<h3><strong>Scary story of pirates</strong></h3>
<p>Hai Viet, an old resident on Hon Tre Vinh Island recalled his grandfather’s story on the pirates.</p>
<p>“There was once a pirate group named Canh Buom Den (Black Sail) on this island,” he said, “They mostly robbed trading ships passing Ha Tien – Rach Gia Bay.</p>
<p>“On the pirates’ ship hung a mop, meaning sweeping off all ships passing by.</p>
<p>“The gang controlled a big sea area of the Gulf of Thailand. Up to now, there are still rumours of treasure hidden by the pirates somewhere on this archipelago,” he said.</p>
<p>Many locals still believe there is treasure hidden on Hon Doc and scattering around the archipelago.</p>

<p>The only ancient mark on the island is a pagoda named Son Hoa Tu.</p>
<p>It is said that once there was a head of a pirate gang named Nguyen Thanh Van. Rumours say he was strong, was a brilliant swimmer and could dive as well as an otter, rebellious but at the same time, had a kind heart.</p>
<p>Once his gang travelled to Thailand, he fell in love with a beautiful woman and took her to Vietnam. Since then, he quit the pirate life. They had a daughter called Nguyen Thi Gai, who was then respected by locals as she built the only pagoda on the islands.</p>
<p>The Son Hoa Tu Pagoda remains up to now as an evidence of rumours on local pirates, a special attraction for tourists to the pristine islands.</p>

<div><strong>Quang Binh (VNA)</strong> – Quang Binh in central Vietnam is well-known for natural landscapes, spiritual tourism destinations and historical relic sites.
<p>The province has big advantages to develop cave, forest and sea-based tourism.</p>
<p>Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, which was twice recognised as world natural heritage sites by UNESCO in 2003 and 2015, is a paradise for cave explorers.</p>
<p>It was listed among the “Top experiences in Vietnam” in 2017 by Lonely Planet – a renowned travel publication.</p>
<p>The park contains the oldest karst mountains in Asia, formed approximately 400 million years ago. Riddled with hundreds of extraordinary cave systems and spectacular underground rivers, Phong Nha is a speleologists’ heaven on earth, the site said.</p>
<p>“The caves are the region’s absolute highlights, but the above-ground attractions of forest trekking, the area’s war history, and rural mountain biking means it deserves a stay of around three days”, the travel site added.</p>
<p>Located in the heart of Phong Nha – Ke Bang Nation Park is Son Doong cave, the largest of its kind in the world recognised by three international organisations, namely Guinness (based in the UK), the Association World Record (based in Hong Kong) and WorldKings (based in the US and India).</p>
<p>Son Doong was discovered by a local in 1991. It was first explored in 2009 by the British Cave Research Association and has been open to the public since 2013.</p>
<p>The 1,645m-long cave system, which extends through a mountain, was named one of the most captivating caves on earth by National Geographic.</p>
<p>Geologists say the cave formed two to five million years ago. It is roughly 6,5km long, 200m high and 150m wide, exceeding the former world record of Deer Cave in Gunung Muli National Park in Malaysia.</p>
<p>A luring destination in Quang Binh province in recent years is General Vo Nguyen Giap’s tomb, which is located in Vung Chua – Yen (Swallow) island area in Tho Son hamlet, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district.</p>
<p>The road to the tomb has 103 stairs, 103 apricot trees and 103 Ban (Bauhinia) flower trees representing the General’s 103 year olds.</p>
<p>Vo Nguyen Giap (1911-2013) was the first general of Vietnam’s People’s Armed Forces, commander-in-chief of Dien Bien Phu campaign (1954). In 1984, the New Encyclopedia Britannica – one of the most massive encyclopedia in the world – voted General Vo Nguyen Giap as one of the 10 preeminent generals of the world.</p>
<p>Vung Chua – Yen island had been chosen by the General as his last resting place. Owning spectacular and pristine natural scenery, Vung Chua area backs to Tho Son mountain and faces East Sea with many islets. General Giap’s tomb is located in Mui Rong (Dragon Cape) reaching to the sea and being opposite to Yen island.</p>
<p>With a coastline of 116km dotted with white beaches sloping into the blue sea, Quang Binh holds great potential for developing marine tourism. Nhat Le beach has become a familiar destination for tourists on summer vacations. </p>
<p>It was selected as one of the top ten most attractive beaches in Vietnam by the Vietnam Records Organisation (VRO) in 2015. </p>
<p>Nhat Le – the unspoiled and tranquil beach with azure, bath-warm water and beautiful stretches of white and creamy sand is definitely the great option for those who are fond of getting some fresh air and falling asleep to the sound of the lapping wave, swimming in the sea and savouring freshly caught seafood.</p>
<p>According to the provincial Department of Tourism, Quang Binh welcomed 3.3 million visitors in 2017, up 70.9 percent against the same period last year, including 130,000 international tourists, up 156 percent. The tourism sector grossed over 3.7 trillion VND (161.8 million USD) in revenue. </p>
<p>In the first quarter of 2018, the province served over 727,000 holidaymakers, a year-on-year rise of 12 percent, raking in 820 billion VND in tourism revenue.</p>

<div>According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), more than 5.54 million foreign tourists travelled to Vietnam in the first four months of this year, a 29.5 percent year-on-year increase.</div>
<div>In 2015, 720,000 Western Europe tourists came to Vietnam while last year saw 1.5 million visitors thanks to open visa policy and tourism promotional programs, said Minister-Chairman of the Government Officie Mai Tien Dung.</div>
<div>The HCM City Tourism Association has earlier sent a proposal on extending visa exemption for Western Europe tourists to the Government. According to proposal, the removal of visa requirements for citizens from the U.K., Germany, France, Italy and Spain will have a valid period extended to June 30, 2023, as the current policy is due to expire on June 30 this year.</div>
<div>The association also noted that countries of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Austria, Netherlands and Belgium are also expected to receive visa-free access to Vietnam.</div>
<div>Another suggestion for duration of stay of 30 days, longer than the current duration of stay of 15 days, and further widening of countries that receive an free visa entry to Vietnam is re-considered.</div>

<div><strong>Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) –</strong> Bach Ma (White Horse) National Park challenges visitors in stark contrast to the traditionally slow pace of life in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.
<p>Located some 50km to the south of the old capital city of Hue, Bach Ma prides itself on offering bold expeditions into the forest.</p>
<p>The park is known for its bio-diversity, with more than 1,400 species of fauna and flora spread out across 37,000 hectares and guarded by a mountain peak standing 1,430 metres above sea level.</p>
<p>The beauty of lakes and waterfalls along the trail, which attracts avid trekkers, has helped attracted travellers from far and wide to the park.</p>
<p>The adventure starts gently at a two-storeyed roundhouse known as Vong Hai Dai, which acts as a viewing point and rest-stop.</p>
<p>The trail then winds past five pristine lakes and waterfalls.</p>
<p>Three kilometres down, travellers reach the starting point to the first lake. The 7km trek involves a steep descent down concrete steps and uneven rocks, with trees surrounding the narrow paths to shield the trekkers from the harsh central sun.</p>

<div><strong>Thua Thien – Hue (VNA)</strong> – The central province of Thua Thien – Hue held a ceremony on May 4 to announce its tourism identification logo.
<p>Speaking at the event, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Tourism said the logo comprises a corner of Five-Phoenix Pavilion, several spans of Trang Tien bridge, and the external circle as a rising sun.</p>
<p>The logo, mostly in purple and red colour, is designed by Nguyen Thien Duc and Nguyen Phu Duc.</p>
<p>Tourism is considered a spearhead economy of the province with the tour “Hue – One Destination, Five Heritages”. In the four months this year, Thua Thien – Hue welcomed more than 1.5 million visitors, up 40 percent annually. Of them, over 600,000 were foreigners, up 70 percent.</p>
<p>In particular, over 400,000 arrived in the province during the freshly concluded Hue Festival 2018, half of them were foreigners.</p>
<p>This year, the provincial tourism sector strives to serve 4 – 4.2 million tourists, marking a 10-12 percent increase year-on-year, 40 – 45 percent of them were foreigners. Those staying overnight reached 2.1 – 2.2 million, up 17-19 percent, bringing nearly 4 – 4.2 trillion VND (177.7 – 186.7 million USD) to the local State budget.</p>
<p>Hue city was the imperial capital of Vietnam for hundreds of years. It is home to five UNESCO-recognised heritages, namely the Hue ancient citadel relic complex – a World Cultural Heritage site; Nha Nhac (Hue royal court music) – an intangible cultural heritage item; Nguyen Dynasty’s wood blocks – a documentary heritage item; Nguyen Dynasty’s Chau ban (royal administrative documents) – part of the Asia-Pacific Register of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme; and literature on Hue royal architecture – a documentary heritage.-VNA</p>

<p>The decision was approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the regular Government meeting on May 3.</p>
<p>Accordingly, citizens from the five aforementioned countries will continue to enjoy visa exemptions to enter Vietnam up to 2020 after the expiration of the visa-free policy in June this year.</p>
<p>The PM said that Vietnam should continue to expand its visa-exemption policy as the country has unilaterally offered visa exemptions for citizens from only 24 countries, including nine ASEAN countries.</p>
<p>According to Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, the open-door visa policy aligned with enhanced tourism promotion has contributed to maintaining Vietnam’s growth rate of foreign visitors at nearly 30 percent annually.</p>
<p>Minister Dung noted that the Government will consider proposals from the Vietnam Tourism Association concerning the extension of the period of stay in Vietnam from 15 to 30 days and the expansion of visa exemption for more countries, among others.</p>
<p>Vietnam welcomed approximately 720,000 Western European visitors in 2015 and the number of visitors increased to 855,000 in 2016 and 1.5 million in 2017.</p>

<p><strong>Kien Giang (VNA)</strong> – Islands of southern Kien Giang province became magnets for tourists during the National Reunification (April 30) and May Day (May 1) holiday starting on April 28, contributing to a sharp rise of visitors to this Mekong Delta locality in the first four months of 2018.</p>
<p>Kien Giang welcomed over 270,000 tourist arrivals during the four-day holiday, up nearly 40 percent from the same period last year. They included more than 5,400 foreigners, rising by some 34 percent year on year, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.</p>
<p>Most of the vacationers chose such islands as Phu Quoc, Lai Son, An Son, Nam Du, Hon Nghe and Hai Tac as their destinations. Notably, Phu Quoc Island attracted nearly 100,000 visitors during the holiday, compared to the previously estimated 40,000.</p>
<p>Vice Chairman of the Phu Quoc district People’s Committee Huynh Quang Hung said despite a surge in the tourist number, local accommodation facilities were still able to provide the best services at stable prices.</p>
<p>To serve the soaring travel demand, Phu Quoc International Airport increased domestic flights while Superdong Phu Quoc, a speedboat service provider, also offered more trips linking Rach Gia city and Ha Tien township in the mainland to this island during the holiday.</p>
<p>As a result of its efforts, the province attracted more than 2.5 million tourists in the first four months of this year, up 18 percent from a year earlier.-VNA</p>

<div>In April alone, Vietnam received over 1.34 million tourists, down 0.1 percent from the previous month and up 25.2 percent from the same period last year due to various activities in the month such as the Vietnam International Travel Mart and Vietnam’s Ethnic Culture Day in Hanoi, the tourism festival in Ho Chi Minh City and others.</div>
<div>Foreign visitors to Vietnam arriving via air was up 26.3 percent; 58.9 percent rise in tourists coming by land and a decrease of 12.2 percent of travelers coming by sea.</div>
<div>The country saw a rise of 36 percent in international visitors from Asian market against the same period last year. Of which, the number of visitors from China increased most by 39.7 percent, South Korea 67.3 percent and Japan 7 percent, Malaysia 16.3 percent, Thailand 9.2 percent.</div>
<div>The number of visitors from the European market rose by 12.9 percent with remarkable growth seen in Russia, the UK and France.</div>
<div>In the first four months, the revenue of food services and hostel accommodations totaled VND172 trillion, a year on year increase of 9.4 percent. Earnings on tour sales was VND12,900 billion, up 26.1 percent compared to last year.</div>

<p><strong>Da Nang (VNA)</strong> – The number of tourists to the central coastal city of Da Nang reached more than 355,500 on holidays between April 28 and May 1, a year-on-year surge of 14.2 percent.</p>
<p>Of the total, there were over 101,600 foreigners and 253,900 domestic holiday-makers, up 20.2 percent and 12 percent respectively from the same time last year.</p>
<p>The majority of foreign visitors were from the Republic of Korea, Japan and China. They came to the city via direct flights.</p>
<p>Da Nang is the most favourite destination for travellers in Vietnam during the public holidays, according to the online booking agent Agoda.com.</p>
<p>Especially, the annual Da Nang International Fireworks Festival was considered the determining factor of tourists’ choice to visit this beautiful central coast city. In addition, a wide range of activities were held on the occasion, including Da Nang sea tourism programme, street music and street festival.</p>
<p>Da Nang has won the heart of both domestic and foreign tourists thanks to its marvelous sandy beaches, stunning natural landscapes as well as intriguing tourist attractions like Ba Na Hill Mountain Resort, Ngu Hanh Son, Son Tra Peninsula, Linh Ung Pagoda and Han River, among others.</p>

<div><strong>Quang Ninh (VNA)</strong> – The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh welcomed about 530,000 visitors during the four-day holidays from April 28 celebrating National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day, up 26 percent year-on-year.
<p>Ha Long city attracted the largest number of tourists, with about 81,115 holiday-maker exploring Ha Long Bay over the past four days. Up to 26,700 tourists visited the bay each day on April 29 and 30, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.</p>
<p>Vacationers also flocked to islands in the locality, especially Quan Lan-Minh Chau in Van Don district with around 60,000 tourists and Co To with about 20,000 visitors.</p>
<p>The border city of Mong Cai also lured about 50,000 tourists, with some 10,000 Chinese holiday-makers travelling through Mong Cai International Border Gate each day.</p>
<p>On April 28, a grand ceremony heralded the National Tourism Year 2018 hosted by Quang Ninh province and the Carnaval Ha Long programme, a banquet of music, light and art.</p>
<p>The carnaval is also the first event of the 2018 National Tourism Year 2018 themed “Ha Long-Heritage, Wonder, Friendly Destination.”</p>
<p>Last year, Quang Ninh welcomed more than 10 million tourists, 4 million of them came from other countries. The province aims to attract over 12 million visitors this year, including 5 million foreigners.</p>
<p>Under the Overall Plan for Tourism Development in Quang Ninh, Quang Ninh strives to become an international tourism centre and a leading tourism destination in Vietnam with modern infrastructure and diverse, high quality and competitive tourism products. </p>
<p>By 2020, Quang Ninh aims to welcome 15-16 million tourists, including seven million foreigners, and rake in 30 trillion VND – 40 trillion VND (1.3 billion USD – 1.7 billion USD) in revenue. The tourism sector is expected to contribute 14-15 percent to the gross regional domestic product (GRDP). </p>
<p>With a range of stunning landscapes, clear turquoise sea and spectacular limestone pillars together with numerous tourism investment projects, Quang Ninh boasts huge potential to develop tourism.</p>
<p>The province has a coastline of more than 250 kilometres and over 2,000 islets, two-thirds of the total number in Vietnam. The spectacular stretch of coast connects the UNESCO-recognised World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay with majestic natural scenery, Bai Tu Long Bay, Van Don and Co To islands and Tra Co beach with Cat Ba National Park in the northern port city of Hai Phong.</p>
<p>Along with the renowned Ha Long Bay, Quan Lan, Minh Chau, Ngoc Vung, Dai beaches in Van Don island district and Tra Co and Vinh Thuc in Mong Cai city have grown in stature among domestic and international tourists thanks to their breathtaking sea and coral reef.-VNA</p>

<p>The number of foreign visitors arriving in Vietnam in April was estimated at 1.3 million, raising the total figure for the first four months of 2018 to 5.5 million, up 29.5pc over the same period last year.</p>

<p>Foreign tourists visiting Vietnam in April rose 25.2pc, attracted by a wide range of events such as the Festival of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in Hanoi, and the Asian Food and Culture Festival in Hanoi and Quang Ninh province.</p>
<p>Of the total visitors in the first four months, 4.1 million came from Asia, with Chinese tourists topping the list at 1.7 million, followed by 1.1 million from the Republic of Korea.</p>
<p>Visitors from Europe were estimated at more than 843,000, of which Russian tourists accounted for the largest share at an estimated 262,000.</p>
<p>The numbers of tourists coming from the Americas and Oceania were 357,000 and 163,000 respectively.</p>
<p>During the period, nearly 15,000 Africans tourists also visited Vietnam, an annual increase of 22.5pc.</p>

<p>Authorities of the central city of Danang are considering re-planning of a controversial coastal tourism project which has faced local opposition for blocking access to the beach.</p>

<p>The information was given by municipal party secretary Truong Quang Nghia at a meeting with people in Lien Chieu District where Trung Thuy Group’s Nam O tourism project is located.</p>
<p>The project investor has set up a two-metre fence at Nam O beach to zone the project, which has blocked the road to the sea.</p>
<p>According to local residents, the empty plot zoned by the project had been used as a football pitch for people from three surrounding villages. The area also had rocks which attracted many tourists who come to take photos. The rocks also help to calm the tides, so they don’t want them destroyed by the project.</p>
<p>The city’s Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia said that municipal authorities have also cared about the project as it is situated in the area which has old traditional handicraft villages and historical sites.</p>
<p>“This is a big lesson for the city is that it needs to be more careful in selecting projects,” Nghia said, adding that municipal authorities are considering the re-planning of the project following the public protest.</p>
<p>Nghia cited some projects in Ngu Hanh Son District as an example of terrible planning. As a result, they have blocked the road to the sea.</p>
<p>He also noted that in the coming time the city will vow to withdraw licenses from projects which have caused environmental pollution.</p>
<p>Dana-Italy and Dana-Australia steel plants which have raised public concerns over the environmental problems may have to cease operations, according to Nghia.</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho welcomed nearly 120,000 tourists during the four-day holidays celebrating the country’s National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1).</p>
<p>The city estimated to earn 36.4 billion VND (1.59 million USD) from tourism services, up 19.4 percent year-on-year, according to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.</p>
<p>Tourist attractions in the city include Ninh Kieu walking bridge, Ninh Kieu wharf, Cai Rang floating market, Phuong Nam Truc Lam Zen Monastery, and My Khanh ecotourism village.</p>
<p>On this occasion, the city held a string of cultural and sport activities to attract visitors, such as the National Motor Racing Championship, a book exhibition, and photo exhibitions.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the central province of Phu Yen is also an attractive destination for holidaymakers.</p>
<p>From April 25 to May 1, the province served more than 34,000 tourists, a year-on-year rise of 30 percent. Phu Yen set a target of welcoming over 1.5 million visitors in 2018.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Sa Pa town in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai welcomed over 68,000 visitors from April 28 to May 1.</p>
<p>A lot of activities have been held during the Sa Pa Summer Festival, including a cloud festival on Ham Rong Mount and a cultural festival of the Mong ethnic minority group in Cat Cat hamlet.-VNA</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – The President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum welcomed nearly 51,000 visitors, including 11,500 foreigners during holidays in celebration of the 43rd National Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1), according to the mausoleum’s management board.</p>
<p>During the holidays, the management board has coordinated with units in the Ba Dinh Historical-Cultural Relic Complex, and authorised agencies of Hanoi to well serve domestic and foreign visitors.</p>
<p>Especially, on May 1, the management board provided free water and breads for visitors.</p>
<p>The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is an important landmark of Hanoi capital city and stands integrated to the political and social history of Vietnam.</p>
<p>After his death on September 2, 1969, President Ho Chi Minh was embalmed and put for view in this granite mausoleum. The mausoleum, modelled after Lenin’s tomb in Moscow, was built in two years, from 1973 to 1975, with materials donated by people from all over the country.-VNA</p>
