Vietnam receives over 5.5 million int’l visitors in the first four months
In April alone, Vietnam received over 1.34 million tourists, down 0.1 percent from the previous month and up 25.2 percent from the same period last year due to various activities in the month such as the Vietnam International Travel Mart and Vietnam’s Ethnic Culture Day in Hanoi, the tourism festival in Ho Chi Minh City and others.
Foreign visitors to Vietnam arriving via air was up 26.3 percent; 58.9 percent rise in tourists coming by land and a decrease of 12.2 percent of travelers coming by sea.
The country saw a rise of 36 percent in international visitors from Asian market against the same period last year. Of which, the number of visitors from China increased most by 39.7 percent, South Korea 67.3 percent and Japan 7 percent, Malaysia 16.3 percent, Thailand 9.2 percent.
The number of visitors from the European market rose by 12.9 percent with remarkable growth seen in Russia, the UK and France.
In the first four months, the revenue of food services and hostel accommodations totaled VND172 trillion, a year on year increase of 9.4 percent. Earnings on tour sales was VND12,900 billion, up 26.1 percent compared to last year.
