NDO – The trade villages in the northern province of Bac Ninh should promote not only domestic consumption of their products but also exports to other countries in the region and world.
Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan made the suggestion during his working session with leaders and people of Phu Lang pottery village in Que Vo district, the northern province of Bac Ninh, on April 18.
At the working session, representatives of nearly 200 households and production facilities expressed their hope that the central and provincial authorities would build policies and measures to support Phu Lang trade village, such as establishing the Phu Lang trade village association, offering preferential loans for investment of heating technology and promoting the image of Phu Lang pottery products as well as organising training courses for the village’s labourers.
The province will direct relevant local authorities to co-ordinate together to remove difficulties and build a suitable development model for traditional trade villages, particularly Phu Lang pottery village, said the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Nhan Chien.
Additionally, the province will complete dossiers to honour Phu Lang village artisans in the shortest possible time.
Addressing the working session, the VFF Chairman Nguyen Thien Nhan appreciated the efforts of the local government and households in the village in preservation and development of pottery.
He also asked production facilities to explore the needs of customers and survey domestic and foreign markets to produce and compete healthily with other trade villages.
Additionally, the VFF Chairman required the Vietnamese trade villages, particularly in Bac Ninh province, to co-operate and support together in models of co-operatives and companies to develop.
Bac Ninh has currently 62 trade villages, including 31 traditional ones, creating jobs for 76,000 local people. The total production value of the province’s trade villages reached VND7.6 trillion, accounting for 7.78% of GDP of the province.
