Vietnam airport gets passengers aboard wrong plane

More than 50 passengers who registered a flight from Cam Ranh International Airport in south-central Khanh Hoa Province to Ho Chi Minh City on April 30 would have flown to Hanoi but for the last-minute discovery of a mistake by ground services staff.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night when these passengers were aboard a VietJet Air plane that was bound for Hanoi, an airline official confirmed on Thursday.

Fortunately enough, the mistake was discovered when the plane was about to take off and all the passengers were taken back to the airport terminal to wait for the right flight to HCMC, the airport security force said.

These passengers boarded the wrong plane while their luggage was still loaded onto the right aircraft, the security force added.

The force made a report on the incident and all staffers involved in the mistake have been suspended for writing separate reports on their relevant responsibility.

On the Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1), airlines added over ten flights per day to meet the increased demand for travel so the airport staff had to work under high pressure during these national holidays, the force explained.
