The event is also expected to contribute to promoting tourism in Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.
The festival offers participants cultural spaces, in the form of craft villages, associated with outstanding Hanoi food such as Hanoi Pho, Thanh Tri steamed roll rice pancakes, Vong and Me Tri green rice flakes, Quan Ganh rice cake, and Uoc Le pork pies.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said that, with more than 20 booths selling food, the village was divided into three areas, including recreating traditional cultural village space with typical gastronomy of Hanoi; introducing products, enjoying delicious food, special gifts by the artisans, chefs from families who have practiced in Hanoi for many years; and a photo exhibition on Hanoi now and then, its cultural history and cuisine will also be upheld. It will introduce a code of conduct in public areas in the capital.
In addition, a major stage will feature exchanges with artisans and researchers on Hanoi cuisine as well as folk games to help tourists better understand the value of Hanoi cuisine.
Visitors will also have a chance to enjoy food cooked in traditional ways.
The festival runs until October 14.
