<p>Quang Ninh,  (VNA) – A grand ceremony heralded the National Tourism Year 2018 and the Carnaval Ha Long programme in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh on April 28, with the presence of several Party, National Assembly and Government leaders. </p>
<p>Chairman of Quang Ninh People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long said the province is honoured to be chosen to host the National Tourism Year 2018. He said 100 events will be held throughout the year, with more than 50 in Quang Ninh alone, promising that the activities will bring impressive and interesting experience for visitors.</p>
<p>National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan stressed the role of tourism in Quang Ninh’s socio-economic development.</p>
<p>Noting that the Politburo had issued Resoluton 08-NQ/TW on turning tourism into a spearhead economic sector, Ngan said to realize the goals set by resolution, the National Tourism Year has been organized annually. This is an important event to promote unique tourism products of the country in general and the host locality in particular.</p>
<p>She hailed Quang Ninh for the careful and responsible preparations for the National Tourism Year 2018, and expressed her hope that the province will be able to achieve new and sustainable development in tourism.</p>
<p>The Carnaval Ha Long 2018 – a banquet of music, light and art, is the first event of the 2018 National Tourism Year – Quang Ninh.</p>

<p><strong>Da Nang (VNA)</strong> – Da Nang launched the tourist season in 2018 on April 27 at the Bien Dong Park in the city’s Son Tra peninsula with a programme of more than 20 activities, aiming to lure and entertain visitors to the coastal city.</p>
<p>Prominent among the events will be a Kayak racing competition, a kite contest and pavilions introducing Da Nang tourism information, sea cuisines, tour services and performance of sea sports. Music performances will also be organised every night.</p>
<p>A painting contest themed sea and islands will be held for children, together with various other activities.</p>
<p>Special decorations have been installed in My Khe beach.</p>
<p>According to Nguyen Duc Vu, Vice Director of the Management Board of Son Tra peninsula and Da Nang beaches, the programme aims to promote new tourism services of the city and provide more entertainment to locals and visitors during the four-day holiday on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30) and the 132nd May Day (May 1).</p>
<p>It is also expected to raise public awareness of protecting sea environment, he added.</p>
<p>Da Nang is a popular tourist destination of Vietnam. The online marketplace and hospitality service Airbnb announced a list of the world’s top 10 destinations for the 208, in which Da Nang ranked fifth in booking surges of up to 255 percent.</p>
<p>The city, which hosted the APEC Economic Leaders Week last November, attracted nearly 2.3 million international tourists in 2017, up 37 percent compared to a year ago, according to the City’s Tourism Department.- VNA</p>

<p>In particular, the city in Vietnam’s central part will host its annual International Fireworks Festival from April 30 to May 1, which remains a remarkable attraction for tourists.</p>
<p>At weekends, tourists may travel to Hoi An ancient town, about an hour drive from Danang. This place ranked the 15<sup>th</sup> among the top 20 travel destinations this summer.</p>
<p>The Hung King Festival taking place on April 25, before the National Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1), is especially popular.</p>
<p>As the summer is approaching, tourists are looking for cooler or seacoast destinations, including Dalat city (second), Nha Trang city (third), Phan Thiet city (fourth), and Phu Quoc Island (fifth).</p>
<p>In addition, the bright lights of Thailand’s Bangkok (seventh), Singapore (eighth) or Korea’s Seoul (tenth) and China’s Taipei (12th) are all good options for foreign travel. Especially, Taipei’s increasing low cost carrier (LCC) services and liberalised visa policies have made it a more popular destination for tourists from Vietnam and Korea.</p>
<p><strong>1. Danang: Naman Retreat Resort</strong></p>

<p><strong>Quang Ninh (VNA) –</strong> The opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year 2018 – Ha Long – Quang Ninh and the Carnival Ha Long 2018 will take place at Ha Long city on April 28, heard a press conference held on April 24.</p>
<p>Deputy Director of the provincial Tourism Department Trinh Dang Thanh said the opening ceremony will feature art performances and a firework display. About 2,000 artists of the province and art troupes from Brazil, Ukraine, China and Cuba, among others, will perform at the event.</p>
<p>Tickets will be distributed free for local people and tourists at Ha Long city and the entrance of Sun Carnival Square, the venue of the ceremony, which is able to host more than 10,200 spectators.</p>
<p>According to the provincial Tourism Department, Quang Ninh is estimated to welcome about 575,000 visitors during the four-day holiday (from April 28 – May 1) celebrating the Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1), representing a rise of 25 percent year-on-year.</p>
<p>During the National Tourism Year 2018, a series of festivals will be held in 14 localities of Quang Ninh.</p>
<p>The province, home to the world natural heritage site of Ha Long Bay, is the host of the National Tourism Year 2018 themed “Ha Long-Heritage, Wonder, Friendly Destination”. It is projected to host at least 51 cultural, sports and tourism events throughout the year.</p>
<p>Quang Ninh hopes to welcome 12 million visitors this year, including five million foreigners, and earn 22 trillion VND (968 million USD) in tourism revenue.</p>

<p>(VEN) – Binh Dinh Province is seeking to attract more visitors and become a leading tourist center in the southern central region and the Central Highlands.</p>
<div>
<p>Binh Dinh Province’s Quy Nhon City was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Champa. It is home to some of the most beautiful beaches, coral reefs, rapids, sand dunes and islands in Vietnam. Binh Dinh is also renowned for historical relic sites with rich archaeological findings, and for its diverse festivals, such as Tay Son, Binh Dinh Martial Arts, fish worshiping and craft village festivals.</p>
<p>Binh Dinh’s Phu Cat Airport is planned for development as an international airport, and the province is also served by the Dieu Tri railway station and Quy Nhon seaport. The FLC Group plans to build 1,500 deluxe hotel rooms soon in Binh Dinh, while many newly opened hotels and resorts are under trial runs. Nguyen Xuan Lan, Vice President of the Binh Dinh Tourism Association and Director of the Golden Life Travel Company, said most tourist service providers in Binh Dinh have acknowledged the importance of sustainable development, and they are contributing greatly to improving the province’s image.</p>
<p>According to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in 2017, Binh Dinh welcomed about 3.7 million visitors, up 15.6 percent from 2016, earning total revenue of more than VND2.13 trillion, up 42.5 percent from the previous year. However, provincial leaders say tourism development in Binh Dinh remains incommensurate with its potential.</p>
<p>Tourism service providers in the province need to beef up information for visitors, and increase capacity to satisfy demand during peak seasons. Roads to tourist attractions located far away from the provincial center need to be upgraded or built, while most provincial tourism enterprises are super small in size and lacking experience.</p>
<p>Binh Dinh is expected to attract more than four million visitors in 2018, nine percent higher than 2017, and turn tourism into an important economic sector by 2020. Research and surveys will be conducted to develop tours to a number of destinations in the province, such as the Lang Song printing house as part of the Long Song Church, craft villages, and areas in the northern part of the province, as well as Binh Dinh martial art learning tours.</p>
<p>The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has suggested that the provincial people’s committee seek permission from relevant authorities to open air routes from Phu Cat Airport to Japan, the Republic of Korea, and China. The department will work with the Binh Dinh Tourism Association to train human resources and prepare facilities to serve foreign visitors well.</p>
<p>Binh Dinh Province has set a target of 5.5 million visitors by 2020, including 800,000 foreign tourists. This would represent an average annual tourism growth of 14.5 percent and provide revenues of VND10 trillion.</p>

<div>Visitors chose to fly to Vietnam accounts for 27.9 percent of arrivals during the first quarter of 2018 (Q1) while the number of tourists coming by sea and land was 6.9 percent and 53.6 percent respectively.</div>
<div>Of which, more than 3.1 million visitors are from Asian market. The number of visitors from China increased most by 43 percent, South Korea 69 percent and Japan 7 percent.</div>
<div>Visa exemption program has raised the number of visitors from the European market to Vietnam by 15.4 percent. The number of visitors from Russian increased by 15.8 percent, the UK 14.4 percent, France 12 percent, Germany 9.8 percent and Sweden 20.6 percent.</div>
<div>Tourism revenue totaled VND138 trillion, a year on year increase of 30 percent.</div>

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) –</strong> The Star, one of the leading newspapers in Malaysia, cited seven reasons to visit Nha Trang, the “underrated pearl” of Vietnam, in an article recently posted on its website.</p>
<p><strong>Blissful beaches</strong></p>
<p>Stretching over 6km of powdery white sand, the crescent-shaped Nha Trang Beach overlooks one of the most beautiful bays in the world – Nha Trang Bay – and it is easily accessible by foot from the bustling heart of the city. Stroll along the palm tree-lined promenade, have a picnic on the beach and idle the afternoon away people-watching.</p>
<p>Come sunset, retire from the beach and take the lift up to the Skylight Nha Trang. Located on the 45th floor of Havana Hotel, the rooftop bar presents an uninterrupted view of the entire city via the 360° Skydeck and is also home to the tallest lighthouse in Vietnam.</p>
<p>Alternatively, set out on a day trip excursion to Da Lat. Nicknamed “The Little Paris”, this charming French-colonial retreat offers a cool respite from the humid weather. Popular with outdoor and adventure enthusiasts, take part in the extreme sports of rock climbing, whitewater rafting, cliff-jumping, and abseiling.</p>
<p><strong>A soak in the mud</strong></p>
<p>After a full day at the beach, it’s time to get rid of the sand – by soaking in mud!<br />
It may sound a bit odd but a mud bath is claimed to be an effective remedy against inflammations and skin problems thanks to its healing and therapeutic properties.</p>
<p>One of the well-known mud bath proprietors is the Thap Ba Spa which offers the cheapest treatments (200,000 VND for communal baths, approximately 34RM) in town that comes with a mineral waterfall, swimming pool and a hydrotherapy wall.</p>
<p>A quirky Vietnamese experience, what better way to get to know a country than by mingling with the locals. If privacy is an issue, opt for a private tub which runs from 400,000 VND (68RM).</p>
<p><strong>Po Nagar Cham <br /></strong><br />
A recommended site for first-time visitors, a visit Po Nagar Cham is a must to understand the cultural heritage of Nha Trang.</p>
<p>Built between the 7th and 12th centuries during the ancient Champa empire, the remnants of the temple once dedicated to the goddess of Po Nagar still serves as a functioning temple today – albeit to the Cham and Buddhists devotees.</p>
<p>All that is left of the building now are four east-facing towers typical of the Cham architecture. As it is a small complex, you could spend a bit of your time exploring the ruins.</p>
<p><strong>(Places of) Worship wonders</strong></p>
<p>The grandeur of French architecture is on full display at the Nha Trang Cathedral and harks back to the spread of Christianity in the 19th century.</p>
<p>Featuring stained glass windows, a square clock tower, and Gothic-styled interior, the cathedral still serves the local Catholic community. Hear the bells – which were cast in France in 1789 – tolling and witness the Mass being held daily between the hours of 5am and 6.30pm.</p>
<p>Elsewhere, the imposing white statue of Buddha can be seen on the foothill of Trai Thuy Mountain as it keeps watch over the city. To reach Long Son Pagoda, climb the 152 steps up to the peak and stop along the way to admire the intricate details of the temple and see the statue of a reclining Buddha.</p>
<p>The temple is not without its history. Having been struck by a cyclone in 1900, the temple was later rebuilt at the current location and is home to the Vietnam Buddhist Studies Foundation in 1936.</p>
<p><strong>Sweet mother of Vinpearl Land</strong></p>
<p>Voted the “most attractive amusement park” by Vietnam Tourism Association, Vinpearl Land boasts a theme park complete with thrill rides, Ferris wheel, a water park, and a luxury resort that are sure to satisfy both the kids and the kid-at-heart.</p>
<p>While at it, join the line to ride the world’s longest cable car sea crossing – it’s over 3km – to make for a memorable day trip.</p>
<p><strong>Booze cruise<br /></strong><br />
Not one to be missed by a thalassophile or party animals, the four-island boat trip is popular for several reasons: it features snorkelling at Mun Island, buffet lunch on deck, live music and dance performances, water sports activities, and even a floating bar. And all of that costs less than 200,000 VND (34RM) including hotel pickup. </p>
<p><strong>Chasing waterfalls<br /></strong><br />
Fulfill your sense of adventure and go on a little detour to Ba Ho Waterfalls – 25km north of Nha Trang.</p>
<p>Better yet, rent a motorcycle and hit the coastal road to reach the place. Once there, pay 20,000 VND (3.40RM) for the entrance fee and follow the painted arrows for a half-hour trek through the rainforest and dip yourself in the refreshing pool. Comprises a series of three waterfalls, Ba Ho provides the rest and respite from the beaches and bustling city.-VNA</p>

<div><strong>Can Tho (VNA)</strong> – An international seminar discussing the vision of the modern and sustainable Mekong Delta’s tourism adaptive to climate change took place in Can Tho city on April 20. 
<p>Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Van Tam said the Mekong Delta is not only a granary but also one of the seven major tourism regions of the country.</p>
<p>The number of tourists to the region rose 18.7 percent to 34 million last year, bringing total revenue of over 17 trillion VND (748.9 million USD), up 26.5 percent annually.</p>
<p>Associate Prof. Nguyen Khac Cuong, from the Government Office, said the government has issued a number of documents directing the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta adaptive to climate change, adding that it is the first time the State, consultant units and banks have worked together in the effort.</p>
<p>Nguyen Huu Thien, an independent ecological expert, suggested incorporating tourism into socio-economic development plans of localities, with attention given to regional connectivity, tourism development in combination with clean agricultural production, among others.</p>
<p>Christopher Malone, Managing Director of the Boston Consulting Group, presented three strategic initiatives, including resorts on rivers, Mekong Delta safari, and ecological-agriculture discovery, and talked ways to increase the number of tourists and their expenses in the region.</p>
<p>He emphasised the need to issue a framework for environmental sustainability, citing the Philippine government’s decision to shut down Boracay island within six months due to pollution and worsening water quality as an example.</p>
<p>Experts introduced successful models in the world such as canal tourism in the Netherlands, the US’s Mississippi river tourism system, Nile river in Egypt and floating market in Thailand.</p>
<p>They called on parties concerned to launch flights to Can Tho international airport, and accelerate the construction of the remaining sections of Ho Chi Minh City – Can Tho highway.</p>
<p>The region needs to develop an integrated lodging system and special tourism products to affirm its stature in the world’s tourism map, they said.-VNA</p>

<div><strong>Hanoi (VNS/VNA)</strong> – People in the capital have made preparations for the upcoming four-day (from April 28 – May 1) holiday celebrating the Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1), and many of them will be traveling.
<p>Many tourism companies are reporting a 20 percent increase in bookings as compared to non-holiday days.</p>
<p>Popular destinations near Hanoi include Sa Pa (Lao Cai province); Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba Island (Quang Ninh province); Tam Dao mountain (Vinh Phuc province) and Ninh Binh province and those further away, including the central cities of Da Nang, Quy Nhon, Phu Yen, Nha Trang, the coastal town of Mui Ne (Binh Thuan province) and Phu Quoc Island (Kien Giang province).</p>
<p>People with more money may choose travel to Southeast Asian countries, East Asia and Europe.</p>
<p>For months before this holiday travel agencies in Hanoi have prepared relevant tours to serve tourists.</p>
<p>The Vietravel Tourism Company has worked to keep tour prices reasonable as compared with low-season prices.</p>
<p>The company will serve around 24,000 tourists, a 20 percent increase against the same period last year.</p>
<p>Up to now, the number of guests booking the company’s domestic tours has reached 70 percent and the number of guests booking foreign tours has reached 80 percent of the company’s plan for this point in the year.</p>
<p>Vietravel has also implemented a charter programme in which travelers can book a full plane and “free & easy” programmes (including hotel, flight and booking) to meet tourists’ diversified demands.</p>
<p>The Hanoi Red Tours Company since the beginning of the year has negotiated with partners like airlines and hotel systems in and outside the country to book flights for convenient days at the best prices. The company’s tours for this occasion have lured thousands of people. Many tours to the US, Dubai and Japan have been fully booked.</p>
<p>New tours include Bangkok-Pataya, Singapore-Malaysia, Seoul-Everland-Nami, and Germany-the Netherlands-Belgium-France.</p>
<p>The number of guests booking the tours of the company has surpassed 90 percent of the company’s available spots.</p>
<p>Nguyen Tien Dat, deputy director of the Trans-Viet Company, confirmed that the number of guests booking the company’s tours increased 20-25 percent against the same period last year.</p>
<p>Various tours departing on convenient days have been sold out to destinations like Da Nang, Singapore, Thailand and the Republic of Korea.</p>
<p>“On this holiday, more guests prefer travelling abroad to various destinations like Europe, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Dubai, Turkey, South Africa and the US,” he said. “Up to now, the number of guests booking our tours has reached 80 percent of the plan.”</p>
<p>Since the holiday was announced early, tourists have been more active in planning and booking.</p>
<p>The holiday is also the beginning of summer holiday, so many localities have prepared to open summer tourism services to mark the occasion. These include Do Son (Hai Phong City), Sam Son (Thanh Hoa province), Cua La (Nghe An province), Nhat Le (Quang Binh province) and Da Nang City with its annual fire work festival.</p>
<p>On this occasion, the RoK Tourism Authority’s office in Vietnam has introduced Busan tourism services, focusing on luxury tours for Vietnamese guests.</p>
<p>Last year, Busan received 88,000 Vietnamese tourists. The city’s authorities have promoted city’s tourism potential throughout Vietnam.</p>
<p>“Airlines have increased the number of flights between Vietnam and Busan to facilitate visitors to and from both sides,” said Shim Jeong Bo, head of Busan City’s Tourism Promotion Department.</p>
<p>For this holiday the Hanoi Tourism Department has asked tourism service enterprises in the city to enhance safety for tourists.</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – An official has said Hanoi’s tourism products should be associated with advertising high-quality goods, especially those which are the signature of craft villages.</p>
<p>“The efforts aim to develop the city’s high-quality tourism products while contributing to implementing the ‘Vietnamese prioritise Vietnamese products’ campaign,” said Tran Duc Hai, Director of the municipal Department of Tourism (DoT).</p>
<p>In 2017, Hanoi took steps to promote local tourism, instructing local travel agencies to offer tours including shopping for locally-made products. </p>
<p>The tours taught foreign tourists about Vietnamese high-quality goods, particularly the products of Hanoi-based traditional craft villages, Hai said.</p>
<p>Hanoi is home to more than 1,350 craft villages, 45 percent of the nation’s total number.</p>
<p>The villages offer many unique products in terms of technique and design. Bat Trang, for example, is famous for its ceramics with white glaze and blue patterns, considered an “East-meets-West” product.</p>
<p>The city has also selected 15 craft villages to set up inter-village tours including Thang Loi, Ha Thai, Phu Vinh, Van Phuc, Son Dong, Bat Trang and Kieu Ky. </p>

<p>Made-in-Hanoi crafts have also been introduced to a wide range of festivals and trade fairs at home and abroad.</p>
<p>In 2018, the promotion of locally-made products will be continued on social media and in the city’s cooperation strategies with the US-based CNN channel and TripAdvisor-the US’s premier travel website, among others, according to Hai.</p>
<p>Chairman of the Hanoi Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Vu Hong Khanh stressed the need for Hanoi to increase the production of local products.</p>
<p>As the head of the municipal Steering Committee for the “Vietnamese prioritise Vietnamese products” campaign, Khanh said “we need to ensure domestic production toward better quality and more diverse designs.”<br />

He requested local firms, district steering committees, and the DoT make greater efforts to introduce Vietnamese products to tourists.</p>
<p>“The point is to connect supply and demand via publicity and promotion, thus boosting tourism in association with Vietnamese high-quality products,” Khanh said.</p>

<div>He suggested the DoT develop a magazine introducing local tourism products, services, goods and tours to Hanoi-based craft villages and local production and distribution establishments.
<p>“Local craft villages should offer tourism services and products at reasonable prices and in an environmentally-friendly manner,” Khanh said.</p>
<p>The craft villages have consolidated their foothold in Hanoi’s socio-economic structure, shipped their products abroad and have created jobs for 740,000 workers. </p>
<p>The Hanoi People’s Committee recently issued a plan on craft village development for 2018.</p>
<p>The city will provide funds for 12 villages to build trademarks, 20 craft production establishments to hire experts for designing products and 14 other establishments to apply advanced technologies.</p>
<p>The capital will also train 24,000 rural labourers and 1,500 managers of rural production establishments.</p>

<div>The plane coded VN-A897 is the first A350 aircraft in the world which has been decorated with logos of the global airline alliance SkyTeam and Vietnam Airlines on its body.</div>
<div>The airplane will be put into use on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route starting April 15. It is the 12th out of total 14 Airbus A350-900 aircraft that VNA ordered earlier.</div>
<div>The carrier will receive the rest two aircraft in 2019.</div>
<div>Vietnam Airlines has been certified as a 4-star airline by the UK airline and airport rating organisation Skytrax.</div>
<div>Airbus A350-900 is among the world’s most modern and advanced wide-body aircrafts.</div>

<p>Reports show that complicated procedures and high visa fees are the major reasons behind the loss of billions of dollars in revenue in many countries.</p>
<p>A report from the EU Parliament says the harsh visa policy may cause the loss of 250,000 jobs and 12.6 billion euros ($13.8 billion) to the EU economy.</p>
<p>A British tourism expert estimates that because of difficulties in obtaining visas, $200 million worth of revenue from foreign travelers may fall into the hands of countries which apply loose visa policies, such as Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia.</p>
<p>Vietnam is failing to attract travelers from many markets because of security reasons and fear of loss of revenue from visa fees.</p>
<p>The fee to obtain a visa to Vietnam is at least $25. With 13 million foreign travelers to Vietnam in 2017, including travelers from ASEAN countries which enjoy visa waivers, the amount of visa fees is not that high.</p>

Ho Chi Minh City bolsters tourism ties with Binh Thuan, Lam Dong

<p><strong>HCM City (VNA)</strong> – Around 50 percent of tourism projects in the south central province of Binh Thuan and the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong are invested by businesses from Ho Chi Minh City.</p>
<p>At a conference reviewing the four-year partnership between HCM City, Binh Thuan and Lam Dong on April 15, the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism of Binh Thuan reported that 239 tourism projects in the province (62 percent) are run by investors from HCM City. The figure reported by Lam Dong was 100 (44 percent).</p>
<p>Under their partnership, the three localities have regularly exchange experience in State management of tourism and jointly hold events annually for their travel agencies.</p>
<p>Director of HCM City Department of Tourism Bui Ta Hoang Vu said the outcomes of the partnership proved that connectivity help the partners better tap their own potential and advantages.  </p>
<p>From a business perspective, Nguyen Van My of Lua Viet company said the tourism brand of the three localities is weak, adding that for the connectivity to produce desired result, each locality should develop its own strength, which are then combined to create unique products able to compete with other regions.</p>
<p>Deputy Director of Lam Dong province’s Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc proposed building a joint tourism development plan with specific mechanisms designed to support local tourism firms, thus making the partnership more strong and effective.</p>
<p>The tourism sectors of the three localities pledged to push forward with the trilateral cooperation. They will take measures to improve joint promotion activities and build a joint brand along with a tourism app for the three localities as a whole.-VNA</p>

<p><strong>Quang Ngai (VNA)</strong> – The island district of Ly Son, 30km off the coast of the central province of Quang Ngai, will open a night market for tourists on the island in May.</p>
<p>According to Vice chairwoman of the district’s People’s Committee, the night market will be located in front of Muong Thanh Ly Son Hotel in An Vinh commune.</p>
<p>Huong said the market, which will run from 6pm until 10:30pm daily, will host 40 pavilions selling souvenirs, dried seafood and specialties of the island as well as an entertainment centre.</p>
<p>She said a lack of night entertainment and shopping service has hampered tourist attraction.</p>
<p>Last year, Ly Son Island and An Binh islet hosted more than 200,000 tourists.</p>
<p>The island has 18 hotels, guesthouses and homestays providing accommodation for 1,000 tourists at present.</p>
<p>The islanders of Ly Son offer local cuisine and garlic and onion farming experiences for tourists during a sea trip from Sa Ky port in summer.</p>
<p>Ly Son and a vast coastal area of Binh Son district may receive Global Geo-Park recognition from UNESCO.</p>
<p>It has been well-known as the ‘King of Garlic’ in Vietnam with 21,000 inhabitants, most of whom make their living from farming garlic and spring onions and fishing.</p>

<p>According to archaeologists, Ly Son Island is a dormant volcano. The terrain of the island was created from eruptions 25 to 30 million years ago, leaving landscapes with rocks, caves, cliffs, rock arches and a lake.</p>
<p>The island has abundant relics related to the Sa Huynh, Champa and Dai Viet (or Great Viet) cultures that existed on the island for thousands of years.</p>
<p>Islanders still preserve the annual Hoang Sa festival to pay tributes to local men who enlisted in the Hoang Sa flotilla hundreds of years ago.</p>
<p>The flotilla was set up under the Nguyen dynasty to patrol the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos and salvage goods from wrecks, catch fish and maintain a Vietnamese presence in the area.</p>
<p>The festival, which includes a requiem for those who had died on the sea patrol missions, a procession of four supernatural creatures and the release of lanterns, has been recognised as the National Intangible Heritage.-VNA</p>

<p><strong>HCM City (VNA)</strong> - Social platforms are effective channels where online tourism firms interact with potential customers, and the travel industry must transform to keep pace with technological changes, experts have said.</p>
<p>La Quoc Khanh, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Tourism, said the fourth industrial revolution is making its way into people’s lives, with almost every device being connected with the internet, representing a new way of communicating and doing business.</p>
<p>With Industry 4.0, the tourism industry must figure out how to adopt new technologies to engage with a customer and gain market share, he told an online tourism forum held on April 13 in HCM City as part of the HCM City Tourism Fair.</p>
<p>Vietnam ended 2017 with GDP growth of 6.8 percent, Huynh Bich Tran, deputy director of Nielsen Vietnam, a global information and measurement company, said.</p>
<p>The service sector also saw significant growth, and contributing to this was increasing tourism and a number of government initiatives, she said.</p>
<p>The number of domestic tourists reached 73 million last year, a year-on-year increase of 20 percent, while the number of foreign tourists rose by 30 percent to 13 million. </p>
<p>Vietnamese consumer confidence finished 2017 on a high note as Vietnam continued to be ranked as the seventh most optimistic country in the world, according to the latest issue of the Conference Board Global Consumer Confidence Survey done in collaboration with Nielsen.</p>
<p>There was a sustained high confidence level among Vietnamese consumers through 2017, the survey found.</p>
<p>Vietnamese consumers were eager to spend on big ticket items to enhance the quality of life. Nearly half of all consumers were willing to spend their spare cash on buying new clothes (49 percent) and on holidays (44 percent).</p>
<p>There were 23 million “connected” spenders – referring to people who have access to the internet — in Vietnam in 2015 and the number is expected to nearly double to 40 million by 2025, according to Nielsen.</p>
<p>By 2025 their spending is expected to account for a half of all consumer spending.</p>
<p>Smartphones sustain the growth momentum as usage and ownership keep increasing in Vietnam.</p>
<p>According to the 2017 Nielsen Vietnam Smartphone Insights Report, the number of people using smartphones accounted for 84 percent of all phone users in 2017 compared to 78 percent a year earlier.</p>
<p>In secondary cities, 71 percent of people use smartphones out of the 93 percent that use mobile phones.</p>
<p>More notably, in rural areas, while 89 percent of the population own a mobile phone, 68 percent of them possess a smartphone.</p>
<p>Social media could be a channel to bring customers to online tourism enterprises, and optimising access for connected customers holds the key to success, Tran said.</p>
<p>Some sources that customers consult before using services include social media (60 percent), friends and relatives (48 percent) and online travel forums (45 percent), she said.</p>
<p>The feedback and comments on forums from earlier customers have a strong effect on the decision of new customers, she added.</p>
<p>According to Jennifer Chau, business manager of Facebook Vietnam, on average Vietnamese customers spend three hours a day on mobile phones, more than on newspapers (56 minutes), television (1.4 hours) or radio (43 minutes).</p>
<p>It is expected that by 2021 half of online tourism revenues would come from mobile phones.</p>
<p>“There are 59 million active Facebook users in Vietnam, with 97 percent of them using smart phones to browse,” she said.</p>
<p>All travellers are users of social platforms and Facebook is the top social platform, according to Chau.</p>
<p>Creative videos with good contents are the most effective way to touch potential customers.-VNA </p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – Hanoi’s tourism sector is taking measures to turn the capital city into a safe, friendly, quality and attractive destination.</p>
<p>The sector is joining in the city’s efforts to plant 1 million trees across the city, ensure urban transport order and address pavement and road encroachment.</p>
<p>The walking area around Hoan Kiem lake will be maintained, while more restaurants and bars in Hoan Kiem district will be allowed to open until 2 AM on Fridays and weekends.</p>
<p>Nguyen Anh Quan, Vice Chairman of the district People’s Committee, said the pilot of longer opening hours for several restaurants and bars since September 1, 2017 has proved effective.</p>
<p>The municipal Tourism Department has also worked with districts and towns in calling for investors to get involved in tourism development to develop typical products of each locality.</p>
<p>Currently, Co Do painter village in Ba Vi district, Van Phuc silk village in Ha Dong district, Bat Trang pottery village in Gia Lam district, Son Tay town’s Duong Lam ancient village and Phu Xuyen district’s Van Tu tailor village are receiving assistance in tourism development.</p>
<p>These villages have been helped to make video clips and voice-overs to be introduced to travel agencies and tourists. More fact-finding tours to the villages have been orgnanised for travel agencies, so they can design tours to these destinations.</p>
<p>Tran Duc Hai, Director of the tourism department, said Hanoi strives to welcome 25.4 million tourists, including 5.5 million foreigners, this year. It targets to earn more than 75.7 trillion VND (3.3 billion USD) from tourism.</p>
<p>The capital city welcomed about 23.83 million tourists, including 4.95 million foreigners, in 2017, representing increases of 9 percent and 23 percent, respectively. Local tourism revenue was estimated at 70.96 trillion VND (over 3.1 billion USD), up 15 percent year on year.</p>
<p> Some prestigious websites like Business Insider, Discovery, CNN and TripAdvisor gave Hanoi third place among the 20 top destinations and listed the capital of Vietnam among the world’s top 10 cities with fastest tourism growth and most attractive destinations.-VNA</p>

<p>At the opening, more than 20 travel agents in the city announced their decision to offer a discount of 15 to 50 percent on tour prices for customers, with the target of a 20 percent increase in their revenue as compared to the 2017 event.</p>
<p>Preferential services are also provided by businesses working in the hotel, restaurant, transport, and entertainment industries for visitors at the event.</p>
<p>Under the theme ‘Discovering Summer’, the festival also includes seminars on increasing the efficiency of online tourism activities, performances of <em>Don Ca Tai Tu</em> (traditional musical art form of the south), sport dances, a lucky draw, and art programs.</p>
<p>The festival is an annual event hosted by the city’s hospitality sector in order to stimulate tourism, while creating a venue for the city’s travel agents to introduce their products and services to customers.</p>
<p>The festival will run until April 15 and is expected to attract approximately 400,000 visitors.</p>

<p>The Diet, or Parliament, has passed the legislation and the new levy, coined the “sayonara tax”, is scheduled to be implemented on Jan 7, 2019.</p>
<p>Travellers, both Japanese and foreign, will be required to pay the tax when they leave Japan by plane or ship, effectively adding to airfares and ship fares. Children under the age of two and transit passengers leaving Japan within 24 hours of their arrival will be exempted.</p>
<p>The tax, which is expected to raise about ¥43 billion a year, will be used to improve infrastructure and services such as installing facial recognition gates as well as providing multilingual guides at national parks and cultural sites.</p>
<p>The revenue will also go towards promoting tourism.</p>
<p>Japan has in recent years seen a boost in tourist arrivals, with the number expected to increase in the lead up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The government is hoping to increase its foreign visitors from 28.69 million in 2017 to 40 million in 2020, Jiji Press reported.</p>
<p>The Diet had on Tuesday passed a Bill limiting the use of the departure tax to tourism-related projects, in response to concerns that the funds could be diverted elsewhere.</p>
<p>The departure tax is the first permanent tax adopted by Japan since 1992, reported Kyodo. Departure levies have already been introduced in countries such as Australia and South Korea.</p>

<p>These flights accounted for 13.5 per cent of the total 74,165 flights operated by four domestic carriers – Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Jetstar Pacific and Vietnam Air Services Company (Vasco) in the reviewed period.</p>
<p>Vasco, a low-cost airline of national carrier Vietnam Airlines, was the best performer in terms of punctuality, with 3,336 on-time flights or 97.7 per cent of the total 3,415 flights.</p>
<p>Vietnam Airlines came second, with 29,321 on-time flights, or 90.2 per cent of the total 32,504 flights.</p>
<p>Vietjet and Jetstar Pacific operated 29,261 and 8,985 flights, with their rates of delayed and cancelled flights being 16.6 per cent and 21.1 per cent, respectively.</p>
<p>CAAV blamed flight unpunctuality to subjective reasons from airlines as well as weather conditions, flight management and late arrival of airplanes.</p>
<p>According to CAAV, Vietjet recorded the highest increase in flights by 26.6 per cent, followed by Vasco (23.2 per cent), Jetstar Pacific (10.9 per cent) and Vietnam Airlines (3.9 per cent).</p>

<p>After the first two successful seasons of direct flights to Vietnam, Air New Zealand will continue to operate its seasonal non-stop service to Ho Chi Minh City, following strong customer demand.</p>
<p>For its 2018 season, from June 23 to October 23, the airline will operate two direct services a week between Auckland and Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday and Saturday, using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.</p>

<p>Joining the tour, visitors will be taken to visit Hung Temple relic site, Hung Kings Museum, Hung Lo Ancient Village and Lai Len Temple.</p>
<p>Tourists will enjoy the local traditional Xoan singing which has been added to UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity in December last year along with famous specialties at local markets.</p>
<p>Xoan singing will be performed between 2 pm and 4 pm at Hung Lo Communal House every day and at Lai Len Temple on weekends. But, the performances will take place between 8 am and 4 pm daily at these two places during the festival, which is slated to take place between April 20 and 25 this year.</p>
<p>Nguyen Dac Thuy, director of Phu Tho Province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the tour is aimed to diversify local tourism products for the purpose to turn Viet Tri into the city of festivals.</p>
<p>Thuy added that the department will try to offer the most favourable conditions for the operation of the tour through tightened control over environmental hygiene, cultural space as well as tourism service quality. The department will also discuss local artists to arrange the Xoan singing performances to serve visitors.</p>
<p>In the coming time, the province will pay more attention to promoting Xoan singing so that travellers can understand more about its cultural value.</p>
<p>The Hung Kings Festival is held annually from the eighth to the eleventh day of the third lunar month in honour of the legendary founders of the nation.</p>
<p>The main festival day has been a public holiday in Vietnam since 2007.</p>
<p>This year’s the Hung Kings Festival will be hosted by Phu Tho Province with help from four other provinces, including the northern province of Thai Nguyen, the central province of Quang Nam and the southern provinces of Binh Duong and Kien Giang.</p>

<p>New international air routes from Vietnam have been launched from March to fly directly to Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Seoul.</p>

<p>Low-cost airline AirAsia plans to open a direct flight from Hanoi to Penang, Malaysia from July 1, 2018. This is the exclusive route operated by Air Asia with a frequency of four flights per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Previously, passengers travelling from Hanoi to Penang have to transit in Kuala Lumpur airport.</p>
<p>On the occasion, AirAsia offers discounts for one-way tickets from Hanoi to Penang at prices from over VND1 million (including tax and fees).</p>
<p>In June, travel and transportation services company WorldTrans also plans to kick off direct charter flights between Can Tho and Bangkok and operate eight flights between the two destinations, using the 180-seater Airbus 320 aircraft from Thai VietJet. The flying time will be 1:25. A round-trip ticket costs VND4.6 million (including tax and airport fees).</p>
<p>Earlier on March 25, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines opened a new air route from Nha Trang to Seoul with four flights per week. Flight duration will be five hours.</p>
<p>The first direct air route from Hanoi to Chiang Mai, Thailand has been operated by Bangkok Airways from March 25. One-way and round-trip tickets are sold at US$108.6 and US$192.4 respectively.</p>
<p>Last month, Vietjet Air also announced the opening of a direct air route from HCM City to New Delhi as of July with four flights per week.</p>

<p>Air France warned Friday that about 30 per cent of flights across France would be cancelled on Saturday (Apr 6) as pilots, cabin crews and ground staff pursued a fifth day of strikes aimed at securing higher pay.</p>

<p>Unions say workers deserve to benefit from years of belt-tightening that have brought the carrier back to operating profitability, after seeing their wages effectively frozen since 2011.</p>
<p>They have called daylong work stoppages since February in pursuit of a six per cent pay raise, and have already warned of more strikes to come, often coinciding with school holidays.</p>
<p>The Air France industrial action coincides with rolling strikes by workers at the state rail operator SNCF, as well as protests by students, public servants, energy workers and rubbish collectors.</p>
<p>Although the various protests have different aims, they have created a general atmosphere of social discontent as President Emmanuel Macron pursues his ambitious reform drive.</p>
<p>Saturday’s cancellation rates are expected to be the highest of any Air France strike so far, though the company declined to specify how many flights would be grounded.</p>
<p>One-quarter of long-haul flights into and out of Paris will be cancelled, while 35 per cent of medium-distance flights will be dropped at the capital’s Charles de Gaulle airport.</p>
<p>And 30 per cent of regional flights at Orly and other French cities will be cancelled, Air France said.</p>
<p>But management so far appears unwilling to budge.</p>
<p>“This increase is not possible”, the chief executive of parent company Air France-KLM, Jean-Marc Janaillac, told RTL radio Friday, adding that it would jeopardise the restructuring efforts made in recent years,</p>
<p>He warned that the strikes had already cost Air France €25 million (US$30 million) each day, money the airline should be investing in buying planes and creating jobs.</p>
<p>Janaillac also claimed that with an operating profit of €600 million last year, its profit margin was four per cent, “the lowest of all European airlines”.</p>
<p>But unions have rejected those arguments, along with management’s offer of a one per cent raise this year.</p>
<p>“We’ve been doing our part for years,” said Gregoire Aplincourt of the Spaf union, the second-largest among Air France pilots.</p>
<p>“What we’re saying now is, ‘Invest in your employees’.”</p>
<p>Unions have called further strikes for Apr 10-11, Apr 17-18, and Apr 23-24.</p>

<p><strong>Quang Tri (VNA)</strong> – The rich potential for marine tourism development in Con Co island district in the central coastal province of Quang Tri has been awaken through investment in infrastructure.</p>
<p>Con Co island, about 17 nautical miles offshore Cua Viet town, is at the southern mouth of the Gulf of Tonkin and considered an outpost watch of the country.</p>
<p>It takes about two hours for visitors to reach the island by boat. With many beautiful pristine beaches, the 2.3-square-kilometre Con Co is an ideal place for sea bathing and fishing.</p>
<p>Coral reefs including the rare red ones are found in the sea around the island.</p>
<p>Con Co is also covered by vast areas of primeval forests that make up 70 percent of the island’s total area with floral diversity.</p>
<p>The island is renowned as a fierce battlefield during the wartime in Vietnam, with many relics still remaining such as a thousand-metre long tunnel.</p>
<p>When the night falls, visitors could stroll along coastal roads to enjoy the fresh air and quiet atmosphere. </p>
<p>Tourists could experience homestay services in the island to explore the local daily life and learn to make seafood dishes by themselves.</p>
<p>The Con Co island district was established in October 2004. </p>
<p>Over the past time, Quang Tri province has focused investment on building water supply systems, medical centres, schools, residential areas and other facilities to improve local lives.</p>
<p>The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has connected the island has been connected with the national grid since August 2017.</p>
<p>Chairman of the district People’s Committee Le Minh Tuan said the connection with the national grid has created positive changes for local socio-economic development, especially tourism.</p>
<p>In 2017, Quang Tri announced a project to open the Con Co island tourism route. In January 2018, the district’s People’s Committee signed a contract building a high-speed boat to carry passengers to the island with a total investment of over 22 billion VND (961,400 USD). The ship will be put into use in August 2018. </p>
<p>Con Co district aims to open 3-4 high-quality tour packages by 2020.</p>
<p>According to Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri People’s Committee Ha Sy Dong, the province has called on investors to build infrastructure systems in Con Co and develop various tourism activities such as coral snorkeling, visiting forests and special species.-VNA</p>

<p><strong>Kien Giang (VNA)</strong> – The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang welcomed more than 1.5 million tourists in the first quarter of this year, surging 3.7 percent against the same period in 2017.</p>
<p>Foreign arrivals were 59.5 percent higher than a year earlier with 173,000 people.</p>
<p>Apart from renowned Phu Quoc island, Nam Du, Lai Son, An Son, Ba Lua and Hai Tac islands have become magnets for holiday-makers recently.</p>
<p>Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Van Huynh said that tourism will be developed into a spearhead economy in the locality, adding that attention has been paid to improving infrastructure, investment projects and human resource training.</p>
<p>Phu Quoc island will be developed into an international hub for eco-tourism, resort tourism and amusement and a regional financial centre, he noted.</p>
<p>Thanks to local authorities’ efforts to lure more investment to the locality, Kien Giang province topped other Mekong Delta localities in the number of tourism projects.</p>
<p>The provincial Department of Tourism said that priority will be also given to investment in accommodations, entertainment zones, shopping malls and transportation in Rach Gia , Ha Tien-Kien Luong and U Minh Thuong tourism areas.</p>
<p>According to Nguyen Van Sau, vice director of the department, the province is calling for 14 projects worth more than 4.17 trillion VND (183.48 million USD) to develop eco-tourism, sea tourism and adventure tourism.-VNA</p>

<div><strong>HCM City (VNA) –</strong> The 14th International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC), the largest event of its kind in the Mekong sub-region, will be held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre from September 6-8.
<p>This year, ITE HCMC will feature more than 300 booths from airlines, hotels and resorts, travel firms and tourism representatives from more than 40 countries and territories like Germany, Japan, Russia, Turkey, India, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, the Maldives, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and the UAE.</p>
<p>La Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of HCM City’s Department of Tourism, said the event is a platform for international and regional buyers, suppliers and trade professionals from tourism and travel organisations in both inbound and outbound markets in the Mekong sub-region.</p>
<p>This year, the country’s tourism sector will focus on tourism promotion and marketing activities for tours in North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Northeast Asia, Khanh said.</p>
<p>The expo will feature a varied programme, including online business matching, trade seminars, post-show tours and Travel Fun Fair Day for public.</p>
<p>It is expected to attract 300 international buyers from high demand markets and 30,000 visitors.</p>
<p>The expo is organised by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in coordination with HCM City’s Department of Tourism, Vietnam Trade Fair & Advertising JSC, and Informa Exhibitions.-VNA</p>

<p>During a press conference organised by the municipal Tourism Department on April 5, Deputy Director of the municipal Centre for Tourism Promotion Tran Ngoc Dong Quan said the festival, themed “Discovering 2018 summer”, will feature around 150 booths by travel agencies, hotels, retailers, restaurants, transporters and airliners at home and abroad.</p>
<p>Other promotions such as gold hour of shocking prices, lucky draw, and buy 1 get 1 are also available.</p>
<p>Seminars on introducing tourism information and Gotadi ticket reservation, and improving the efficiency of online tourism will also be held.</p>
<p>Quan said the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will also offer 2,400 codes with a 30 percent discount for domestic and foreign flights during the event, and a discount up to 49 percent for delegations on international flights.</p>
<p>On April 14 evening, a ceremony to honour top 100 tourism brands of the city will also be organised. It is a prestigious award to honour tourism companies based in the city.</p>

<p><strong>HCM City (VNA)</strong> – Ho Chi Minh City is seeking to enhance connectivity with other localities nationwide to become more attractive to tourists.</p>
<p>Tuoi tre (Youth) Newspaper held a forum on inter-regional tourism connectivity of the southern economic hub of Vietnam on April 4.</p>
<p>Director of the municipal Tourism Department Bui Ta Hoang Vu said HCM City is a hotspot for many outstanding tourism products nationwide like MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions), shopping-entertainment tourism and cultural-culinary tourism. It is a must-visit destination for tourists to Vietnam.</p>
<p>The city welcomed more than 1.3 million tourist arrivals in the first three months of 2018, he noted.</p>
<p>However, to develop tourism sustainably, cooperation is needed, he said, adding that inter-regional tourism connectivity does not reduce the strength and market share of each locality but increases their competitiveness and expands their market more easily, thus creating unique tourism products, lengthening tourists’ stay and boosting revenue.</p>
<p>HCM City is enhancing bilateral and multilateral connections with localities in Dong Thap Muoi sub-region, the east of the Mekong Delta and the northern, central and Central Highlands regions. It will also continue carrying out solutions to attract tourism investment, Vu added.</p>
<p><strong><a>[HCM City eyes 7.5 million foreign visitors in 2018]</a></strong></p>
<p>Trinh Hang, Director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Department of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, said after years of tourism cooperation with HCM City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has become a familiar destination for tourists visiting HCM City. More than 85 percent of visitors to Vung Tau city come from HCM City.</p>
<p>Several travel companies, hotels, restaurants and resorts in HCM City have established branches in Vung Tau, helping to raise local tourism revenue.</p>
<p>Hang said his province will continue working with the nearby city to provide more tourism products and attract domestic and foreign visitors.</p>
<p>Addressing the forum, Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem affirmed that the city’s tourism must be connected with other regions nationwide to develop sustainably. The local sector has inked cooperation agreements with 36 provinces and cities. </p>

<p>The signing ceremony took place in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on April 4.</p>
<p>Speaking at the event, General Director of Acecook Vietnam Kajiwwara Junichi said the company is honour to support the event, adding that over the past 23 years, it has strived to maintain the value of traditional cuisine by combining Vietnamese flavour with Japanese technology.</p>
<p>Themed “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development: Hue – One Destination, Five World Heritages”, the biennial event aims to promote art exchanges among cultures and introducing unique values of the culture of Vietnam and Hue, thus boosting service-tourism growth and strengthening socio-economic development of Thua Thien-Hue.</p>

<p>As Hue served as the imperial city under the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), the festival will reenact royal celebrations and events such as Royal Night, Orient Legends and the Nam Giao ritual.</p>
<p>In addition, many side events will be held, such as the Hue Science Festival (organised by the Hue College of Medicine and Pharmacy), International Gastronomy Fair, beer carnival, International Trade Fair, Splendid Taste of Ancient Village in Phuoc Tich, traditional boat race on Huong (Perfume) River, kite festival, Tam Giang Lagoon Fantasy and Hue Poetry Festival.</p>
<p>Exhibitions taking different themes include ‘the poetry on Hue royal architectural works inscribed on truc chi (bamboo pulp) paper’, ‘colours of Bat Trang pottery’, ‘orchids and bonsai’, ‘old car exhibition’ and ‘cultural heritage with integration and development’.</p>
<p>Various sight-seeing tours offer more fantastic journeys to discover local attractions such as Lang Co beach and Tam Giang Lagoon.</p>
<p>Hue Festival has taken place every two years starting from 2000, bringing together excellent arts companies with unique performances from across the world.</p>

<div><strong>Phu Tho (VNA)</strong> – A ceremony to announce a tourism product called “Xoan singing in ancient village” and daily tour linking Hanoi and the northern midland province of Phu Tho took place in the latter locality on April 4.
<p>Accordingly, artisans and members of Xoan troupes will perform from 2-4pm at Hung Lo communal house every day and from 2-4pm at Lai Len temple every Saturday and Sunday.</p>
<p>During the Hung Kings Temple Festival from April 20-25, xoan singing performances will be staged from 8am – 4pm every day in the above venues.</p>
<p>The daily tour will bring tourists to Hung Kings Temple relic site, Hung Kings museum, Hung Lo ancient village and Lai Len temple, contributing to building Viet Tri into a festival city and popularising tours around the province and the city in particular.</p>
<p>In the near future, travel agencies will continue introducing Xoan singing and Hung Kings worship rituals – two UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritages of humanity to the public.</p>
<p>At the ceremony, the provincial Centre for Tourism Information – Promotion, Viet Tri municipal People’s Committee and travel agencies signed an agreement to launch Hanoi – Phu Tho daily tour.<br />

Closely linked to the worship of Hung Kings, Xoan singing is a religious practice rooted in the ancestor worship of the Vietnamese people. It is traditionally performed during the first two months of the lunar calendar in holy places such as temples, sanctuaries and communal houses.</p>
<p>There are three forms of Xoan singing: worship singing for the Hung kings and village guardian spirits; ritual singing for good crops, health and luck, and festival singing where villagers alternate male and female voices in a form of courtship.</p>
<p>The Vietnamese musical tradition was inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding in 2011 due to declining appreciation of this tradition, notably among young people.</p>
<p>The performing art was transferred to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2017 in recognition for efforts by the local communities and the national authorities to reinforce the viability of Xoan singing.-VNA</p>

<p><strong>Can Tho (VNA)</strong> – More the 2.4 million people visited the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho in the first three months of 2018, up 13.6 percent year on year and realising 30.2 percent of the yearly target.</p>
<p>Tourism brought in 895 billion VND (39.29 million USD) during the period, an annual increase of 20.9 percent. The revenue met 25.7 percent of target set for 2018.</p>
<p>Le Minh Son, Vice Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, attributed the results to myriad activities held in celebration of the lunar New Year holiday, particularly the opening of nine more tourism sites.</p>
<p>A range of tourism promotion programmes have been launched, such as piloting guitar and calligraphy performances on Ninh Kieu Wharf every Sunday and introducing three food and fashion streets.</p>
<p>The city plans to boost quality of local tourist destinations, while offering new destinations and tourism services. The plan covers the improvement of river tours and electric car services, and the construction of entertainment and resort area, among other facilities.-VNA  </p>
