Airports across the country served 55.41 million passengers in the period from January to July this year, reported the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam.
The number of passengers passing through terminals nationwide in July alone was 9.11 million, a year-on-year increase of 12.2 per cent.
Of which, international arrivals were 2.34 million, up 2.1 per cent, and domestic travelers were 6.77 million, up 16.2 per cent.
There are currently 63 foreign airlines from 25 countries and territories participating in the Vietnamese air transport market to operate regular international flights to Viet Nam.
Foreign airlines and three Vietnamese airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific Airlines are operating 105 international flights to and from Ha Noi, HCM City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Hai Phong.
In the domestic market, four Vietnamese airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific Airlines and Vietnam Air Services Company (Vasco) are operating 52 domestic routes connecting Ha Noi, Da Nang and HCM City with 18 local airports.
Recently, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has taken a series of measures to enhance the capacity of local airports, especially the three international airports of Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat and Da Nang.
The corporation also tightened inspections and surveillance to ensure service quality during the peak travel season in summer this year. — VNS
