Moc Chau Tea Festival opens

As part of the events of the 2017 National Tourism Year, the festival aims to promote Moc Chau tea products to honor tea growers, and draw more investors. These efforts will contribute to creating jobs and ensuring a stable income for local farmers, along with developing the province’s tourism industry.

According to Chairman of Son La provincial People’s Committee, Cam Ngoc Minh, the festival contributes to promoting tea production and introducing them to domestic as well as international tourists.

This year’s festival features 32 booths by companies and cooperatives specialising in tea production and distribution from Son La, Phu Tho, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, and Lai Chau provinces.
The festival will comprise a series of activities, including a photo exhibition, a tourism exhibition, a tea-leaf picking and tea-making contest as also sightseeing in the tea plantations.

Moc Chau is endowed with a cool climate and soil suitable for growing tea plants. The material area was formed in 1959. To date, it has more than 1,800 hectares and produces over 23,000 tons of tea leaves, thus serving as the main income for local people as well as ethnic groups here. Moc Chau tea products are exported to many international markets, including Japan, Taiwan, and Pakistan. In recent years, the production of tea in Moc Chau has also boosted local tourism.

The Tea festival is the pride of tea growers in Moc Chau Plateau. It is also an opportunity for local people to introduce and promote tea products of Moc Chau Plateau, thus attracting more investors as well as tourists to visit the place.
