Gastronomy preservation and research centre opens

The centre is set up by the Vietnam Tourism Association (VTA) with the purpose of preserving and bringing into play the quintessence of each food and drink of the country while promoting the Vietnamese cuisine, helping develop tourism into a spearhead industry.

Addressing the opening ceremony, VTA Deputy Chairman Vu The Binh said Vietnamese dishes have won good impression of demanding guests and renowned chefs.

The centre will work hand in hand with travel operators and localities to launch food tours, tours of ingredient supplying areas, and cooking classes.

It is making a website in English and Vietnamese to provide information about Vietnam’s gastronomy. The website is scheduled to open in August, he added.

He expected the center to promote the research and preservation of Vietnamese food while introducing it to international friends.

On this occasion, Binh, who is also Chairman of the Vietnam Society of Travel Agents, and Vice President of the American Society of Travel Agents Robert Duglin signed the societies’ cooperation agreement to facilitate Vietnamese travel companies’ operations in the US and Vietnamese travelers to the US.
