Eight Vietnam tourism representatives receive ASEAN award

Three community-based tourism areas and five homestays in Vietnam have been granted ASEAN awards at the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) Hanoi 2017, in Hanoi.

The three travel companies winning recognition for business based on the ASEAN community are Pom Coong mountain village in Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province; Thanh Toan tile bridge in Huong Thuy district, Thua Thien – Hue province and Triem Tay in Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province.

The “Homestay” award was presented to five enterprises, including Ta Van Giay 1 in Sa Pa district, Lao Cai province; Mai Hich commune in Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province; Hoa Ninh commune in Long Ho district, Vinh Long province; Dao in Quan Ba commune, Ha Giang province; and Thanh Nam Village with eight households in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province.

In his speech at the award ceremony, the Deputy Head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism asserted that over the past years, homestays and community-based tourism areas have become attractive destinations for numerous domestic and foreign tourists. The award recognized and hailed the efforts of households, localities and travel businesses to build unique tourism products and satisfy tourists.

He hoped the community-based tourism areas and homestays would continue to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values to create attractive products for tourists./.
