According to the Department of Transport, there were 37 congestion hot spots by late 2016 and early January. Routes leading to the city centre, ports and airports are always crowded and jammed during rush hours. During the morning rush hour, vehicles can only travel at 19km per hour and 18km per hour in the evening.

Bui Xuan Cuong, the department director said, “80 constructions will be located in the eastern and southern areas of the city and connect with the Tan Son Nhat Airport and Cat Lai Port.”

Cuong also said the city would develop waterway transport to ease traffic load on the roads.

Over VND8.4trn will be spent from the city’s budget for 50 projects. The state budget will support VND9.2trn for three projects, while other three projects will receive VND9.4trn from ODA loans. There will be 24 PPP projects with a total investment of VND12.2trn.
