The weeklong Lunar New Year holiday brings a strong travel demand. Many tourists have booked tours long before the holiday and travel companies thus offer tours with a lot of attractive promotions.

Mr Nguyen Minh Man, Marketing Director of Dang Le Tourism Investment Company, said, with seven days off for the Lunar New Year from January 26 to February 1, many families will take tours on this occasion. Bookings for Tet tours increased 25-30 per cent over the same period of 2016.
According to surveys among travel companies, New Year tour bookings now account for over 50 per cent of offers. This showed that travellers tended to book tours long before departure. This helped travel companies to prepare better for their tours.
Domestic tours are attracting a lot of visitors because of travel convenience and affordable expenditure. Familiar destinations such as Sa Pa, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc continue to be top picks. Tours to regional countries like Thailand, Malaysia, China and South Korea were forecast to be better than previous years. A tour with many destinations like Singapore – Malaysia – Indonesia is attractive to tourists.
Early bookings allow customers to get enough tickets for their members, change or cancel tours without paying redemptions.
Grasping the tendency, many travel companies have launched attractive promotion programmes like offering free gifts/services. For example, Saigontourist has introduced a tour called “With Saigontourist, enjoy New Year reunion – Get lovely tours – Get a prize of VND100 million” from December 5, 2016 to March 3, 2017 according to which lucky customers will have a chance to win a 5-star cruise tour for two with a voucher of VND100 million. Viet Travel Company has launched a lucky draw worth VND1.5 billion and free tours to Europe and Japan for customers joining promotion programme called “Travel in springtime – Range of best prices – Shocking offers”.
Apart from destinations and programmes, spending is also a concern of tourists. Nguyen Van Tai, Director of Vietsense Travel, said, to have a meaningful and economical trip, visitors need to consult, compare and learn experience from forums and websites of well-reputed travel companies to update promotions. They also should book tours early enough to have more choices with best prices.
