The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) yesterday announced there will be an increase in flights to serve high travel demand of people in Tet (the Lunar New Year) holidays.

1,270 flights will be added in the holiday breaks yet it is lower than carriers’ registered number of over 2,400 flights. The authority said that added flights is lower than carriers’ registration to ensure safety of flights and passengers.
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines was allowed to add more 380 flights or offering additional seats of 76.758, an increase of 6.3 percent from the same period last year.
Local budget airlines VietJet Air was allowed to increase by 560 flights or offering additional seats of 100,800, up 8.9 percent compared to last year. Jetstar Pacific carrier plans to conduct 330 flights with more seats of 59,400, an increase of 12.7 percent. Most flights are the Hanoi-HCMC route.
In addition, the aviation authority just allowed 38 slots for aircraft to land in Tan Son Nhat in day time an hour and 28 slots in nights per hour.
The CAAV said the additional domestic flights will run between January 16 and February 12.
