Danang resort uncontested world leader for three years in a row

Early this month, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort of leading Vietnamese real estate developer Sun Group has again been honoured by the World Travel Awards as the World’s Leading Luxury Resort at the grand final gala held at The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi in the Maldives.

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has become the first resort in the history of the World Travel Awards (WTA) to win this very prestigious accolade in the three consecutive years of 2014, 2015, and 2016.

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has become the first resort in the history of the World Travel Awards (WTA) to win this very prestigious accolade in the three consecutive years of 2014, 2015, and 2016.

The resort once again became the winner in the World’s Leading Luxury Resort category after receiving the highest number of votes from travel professionals and industry stakeholders from around the world, surpassing all competition.

“We are extremely proud to have retained this world-renowned award for the third consecutive year. We could not have achieved this without the full dedication of our whole resort team, significant support from our mother company Sun Group, and, of course, our valuable guests,” said Juan Losada, the resort’s general manager. “At the same time, this award reinforces our commitment to stay focused on delivering world-class services in the months and years to come.”

Hidden in the myth-filled hills of Monkey Mountain in the heart of Son Tra Nature Reserve, the five-star InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is as much a work of art as a resort.

Set in 37 hectares of stepped gardens leading down to a private beach—with a dramatic view of the sea enjoyable from all 200 rooms—every inch of this luxury resort is the stunning creation of star architect Bill Bensley and, as a result, is unique in design and concept.

Gourmet travellers will appreciate La Maison 1888 (and its outstanding wine cellar) that recently enlisted world-renowned, Michelin-star chef Pierre Gagnaire, while those looking for a genuine wellness retreat will love HARNN Heritage Spa set in its private lagoon.

The range and exquisite choice of entertainment and relaxation explains why in the past years InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has become the retreat of many of the world’s politicians and celebrities.

The resort has also been chosen to host major events for the upcoming APEC 2017 organised in the central city of Danang.

Prior to winning this noble accolade, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has raided the trophy vaults of many other prestigious awards from the most reputed organisations, such as three other World Travel Awards for Asia and Australasia.

It was honoured as the number one resort in Asia by Condé Nast Traveler, the Best Resort Hotel in the Asia-Pacific by the Business Traveller, and has made it among the 21 Most Beautiful Beachfront Hotels in the World, as published by CNN.

Third-time champion of the industry’s equivalent to the Oscar’s (comparison by the Wall Street Journal), InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort seeks to realise developer Sun Group’s commitment of hammering Vietnam onto the world map of elite tourism.
