ĐÀ NẴNG – The Bà Nà Hills Golf Club in the central city has been named ‘Best New Golf Course in the World’ at the annual World Golf Awards ceremony in the Algarve, Portugal.
The course, managed by IMG and designed by Luke Donald, won the award based on an online survey conducted between April and October, during which more than 1.1 million votes were cast across the world.
It’s also the first ever world award the course has won since it officially opened in April.
Earlier this month, the course also won ‘Best New Golf Course in Asia Pacific’ and ‘Best Golf Course in Việt Nam -1st Runner Up’ at the 2016 Asian Golf Awards in Thailand.
“It’s great news for golf in Việt Nam that Bà Nà Hills has won this coveted award,” said Luke Donald.
“The routing of the course takes full advantage of the site’s substantial movement, and the stunning scenery will make this one of the best new golf destinations in Asia,” said Donald.
The course, which features 18 tour-calibre holes is the first golf course in Việt Nam allowing golfers night access due to its lighting system.
In 2012, the Montgomerie Links golf course in Quảng Nam Province was included in the Forbes Travel Guide list of Asia’s 10 Most Elite Golf Courses and was named Việt Nam’s best course. – VNS
