Hanoi plans citywide free Wi-Fi to tackle traffic problems: report
In a new attempt to reduce traffic congestion, Hanoi will launch free Wi-Fi hotspots across the city this year, news website VnExpress reported on Friday.
The connection will keep people updated of traffic situations, the website said, citing the Department of Information and Communications.
It is part of an intelligent transport system that local authorities plan to establish in the near future to monitor local traffic through technologies, it said. The project also aims to help tourists stay connected.
In June, Ho Chi Minh City also announced a plan to set up free Wi-Fi hotspots across the city sometime this year.
At the moment, free wireless connection is available at popular destinations such as Da Nang, Ha Long, Hoi An and Hue.
