The PM assigned the Ministry to build detailed plans to submit to him under regulations of Decision 76/2010/QD-TTg on organizing and managing international conferences and events in Vietnam.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, ATF 2019 will lure about 1,500 participants with activities such as meetings among ASEAN tourism ministers, followed by meetings between the ministers and tourism representatives from China, Japan, India, Russia and Republic of Korea (RoK).

The event will also feature ATF Travex (Travel Exchange), the longest-running annual ASEAN leisure travel trade event showcasing the largest collection of ASEAN tourism sellers.

ATF is expected to offer opportunities for Vietnamese tourism enterprises to meet, study and establish business cooperation relations, and attract more investors in the country’s tourism sector.

The forum is a cooperative regional effort to promote ASEAN region as one tourism destination. This annual event involves all tourism industry sectors of the 10 member nations of ASEAN: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The hosting of ATF is rotated among the member countries.

Hosting the event is both a responsibility and a right of member countries, as the region is increasingly integrating with the formation of ASEAN Economic Community. Under the rotation, Vietnam will host the event in 2019./.
