The ministry has been assigned to build detailed plans for the event and submit them to the government leader as stipulated in the PM’s Decision No. 76/2010/QĐ-TTg dated November 30, 2010 on organisation and management of international conferences and workshops in Vietnam.
The ATF is a significant activity of the largest scale in the framework of ASEAN tourism co-operation.
An ASEAN tourism ministerial conference is scheduled under the framework of the forum, alongside an ASEAN tourism ministerial meeting with dialogue countries (China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia and India), a meeting between ASEAN tourism committees, Travex tourism fair, ASEAN Tourism Conference, press briefings and other relevant activities.
It is not only the responsibility but also the right of ASEAN member countries to host the ATF as ASEAN integration has become extensive following the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community.
The hosting of the 2019 ATF will provide Vietnam with a good opportunity to promote the country’s landscapes, tourism and people to international friends, simultaneously contributing to affirming the role and enhancing the position of Vietnam on the international and regional arena.
The event also aims to attract foreign investors to Vietnam’s tourism sector, while facilitating Vietnamese travel companies to strengthen contacts and establish business co-operation relations with regional partners.
