The bridge has been built and opened to traffic five days before schedule to reduce damage for the railway industry.

On early June 25, the first train travelled over the bridge to reach Saigon terminal after 96 days that trains had to stop at Bien Hoa station.

The new bridge has been built at a total cost of VND298.5 billion (US$13.4 million) comprising two lanes for two-wheelers and pedestrians.

A sand barge collided into and collapsed old Ghenh Bridge in March causing a damage of VND800 billion (US$36 million) as of May 16.
