Tiger Cage, Con Dao Island, Vietnam The Tiger Cages were French and American-built prisons where Vietnamese prisoners were tortured. Tat Tak School, Hong Kong

Said to be one of the most haunted locations in Hong Kong, the now-abandoned Tat Tak School is the subject of many frightening tales, including reports of suicide and the ghost of a woman in red. Some cabbies refuse to take the road that leads to the school, which is surrounded by graves and also reportedly haunted.

Lawang Sewu, Indonesia

The history of hauntings of this old building in Indonesia is tied to the history of colonialism in the country. At the end of World War II, the Japanese fought a battle with Indonesian troops in front of the building, and there are stories of people being tortured in the basement.

Chibichiri Cave, Okinawa

At the end of World War II, Japanese soldiers were told to kill themselves rather than surrender to U.S. forces. Dozens upon dozens did so in various caves throughout Okinawa. Many civilians were killed and also killed themselves. Skull sculptures can be found in the caves as a memorial to the events. The cave is explored in episode 3 of “I Wouldn’t Go In There.”

Clark Hospital, Philippines This former U.S. Army hospital is said to be visited by the ghosts of soldiers who died here. In 1991, when Mount Pinatubo eruped, the U.S. Air Force evacuated Clark Air Base where the hospital is located.

Bagua Building, Taiwan

Off the southern coast of Taiwan, Green Island attracts Taiwanese tourists. The island once housed a penal colony for political prisoners. The prison is still there, and the island is said to be haunted by those who were killed during the White Terror period of political suppression (1949-1987).

Yeongdeok, South Korea

Numerous rumors surround this famed haunted house in South Korea’s North Gyeongsang Province. Every day, carloads of students drive up to gawk at the abandoned building. In addition to the story of a young girl who killed herself after being jilted by her boyfriend, it’s said that Korean soldiers who died during a failed beach landing during World War II may have been buried on the hill on which the house is located.

Ghost Hill, Penang, Malaysia

“This was one of places that was most fascinating for me,” says Robert Joe, host of “I Wouldn’t Go In There.” A haunted war museum lies at the top of a hill where a fort used by the British was located. Bunkers and weapons placements remain, as do giant, bizarre effigies of ghosts that have reportedly been seen by construction workers on the site. The place is said to be haunted by a Japanese officer who terrorized locals and held public beheadings during World War II.

Phra Si Sanphet Temple, Ayutthaya, Thailand About 50 years ago, a group of robbers stole gold from this ancient Thai temple, and were subsequently cursed. Stories about the thieves' gruesome deaths remain part of local lore.

Tower of Silence, Diu, India

Featured in episode 10, the Tower of Silence, also known as Dakma, is a structure used by Zoroastrians to leave their dead for scavenging birds.
